Well I went to check out the Quake III road tour in 99 and Thresh showed up and I held my own aginst him. The Quake bus had small LAN in the bus and there were seven of us playing.. This was in San Jose CA

Best at what type of Q3 match? I owned a game once until I was suckered into a one on one match. I may be much better now, but I can say there is a difference when your 1-1 versus 1-20. Map familiarity plays a big part also since for most of my movement I'm not watching where I'm going.

q3a has a cult following, I keep it installed cause its a good benchmark (and I like instagib). I prefer it over CS b/c it isn't full of cheating little 12 yr olds, although a good game of CS at Neo's beats everything except Tribes2

One of the guys I work with is crazy good. He will often hold his own against everyone else he's playing against, while carrying on a conversation with me, or helping someone on the phone. We tried to get him to go to a lan tourney in Chicago, but he didn't want to drive alone. I'm sure he'd have placed, if not won. He's GodLike

I, on the other hand, suck very bad at q3a. It's funny to watch me play

I loved Q2 and could NOT STAND Q3A. It's all about UT and T2 for me these days baby. Maybe I'll try out that weapons factory thing.

Q2 Weapons of Destruction is still my favorite. I didn't like Q3 at all. I use QTracker and play all over but the DugDog server is probably my favorite spot (although it crashes more than others) since it has the most maps and plenty of good players to humble me.

Excessive Q3 is a FREE mod developed by Mr.Pants. All you have to do is join an Excessive Q3 game and the mod will be loaded for you...as it's really a server side mod. Here's more info:

It's the ONLY Quake I play anymore. Regular Q3 is boring and centers on who can run the map the best...not so much on weapons skill. In XSIV, you are given ALL weapons and 300 health to start,plus your health slowly regenerates after you take damage. Also, the weapons rate of fire is VERY well balanced and fair. For example, the BFG shoots kinda like the rockets in reg Q3....but the rockets shoot like the plasma gun, LOL. Try it, it's the best game on the net IMO.
