Who's playing Minecraft?

I absolutely hate creepers, even spiders, more than skellys. Creepers will come up and kill you with little warning. Skellys make quite a bit of noise and you can dodge the arrows pretty easily.

Creepers are the worst. Spiders are easy to kill, skeleton archers are annoying, especially for how far you get pushed back by an arrow hit.

In other online communities I frequent, people constantly post videos of the super cool cave they found, or the mountain they just mined out and it gets repetitive after a while...I guess it doesn't apply here since AT's minecraft thread doesn't see much action. Either that or the video just isn't funny at all for the rest of you 😛

Edit: Wait a sec...I thought it was weird you wrote "Mortal Kombat"...so I clicked on that link I posted and it turns out I pasted the wrong link, lol do I feel stupid now...

So where's the right one?

My server was down for awhile, it's now back up, I've seen a few people log onto it here and there, just wanted to let everyone know. Currently running on a C2D desktop machine w/ 8GB of RAM, running the latest build of Bukkit (well, as of like 20 minutes ago at least), monsters are on, got a few plugins running, nothing too fancy.

oh sweet!!! is the same (second) map still running?

I hadn't played MC in a long time, since just before the Nether (had DC problems in multiplayer and missing features)

With 1.6 though I am planning to change that and play with friends on a private server, I loaded it up and see quite a lot has change and been added! Seemed to be noticeable more creepers too, died three times in the first few nights to creepers everywhere.

Just picked up Minecraft this weekend after hearing about it for a year but not knowing a single thing about it. I've become completely enamored with it. I talked a couple of friends into purchasing it as well and we've already bought a server for 3 months.

I picked it up recently as well. It is amazing what people have done with the resources available. I need to cancel my MMO subscription and play more of this instead.

I finally bought it after months of debating. I think my boredom with Tererria helped me with my decision. I'm going to be addicted for a while...so much to do, so little time.

I haven't been on it in months... Had some great times though. Need more minecraft time :-(

I'm not sure how it works in MP mode, i cant pick up anything, but im able to log in...I'm definitely not seeing any buildings, just random caverns.

industrialcraft + buildcraft are cool toys for when you get bored of vanilla ...

messed with them both this weekend ... buildcraft isn't very will documented, but it's really really cool IMO

I have a small IC2/BC server going right now for a few of my friends. It's different from the server I had earlier. I basically took over running a gaming clan's server so that's where I get my vanilla MC fix.

Buildcraft for SMP mc 1.8 is buggy as hell right now, but it works more or less, but my client crashes almost everytime I change the light level a pipe.

IC2 is really an amazing mod though and it's fairly stable in SMP. Everything is very expensive to make and you have to be careful and think before you act or else you end up blowing up your house.

lol, Lewis from Yogscast had that happen to him. Left a huge crater under his torn up house.

I have a friend who's running an SMP server, but he's just running it with essentials pack, no other real mods on there....

Maybe I'll get him to install IC2, otherwise at some point I may consider running my own server...

IC2/BC or any other mods than Bukkit are a bitch to run. You have to make sure you download the correct mod packs, mod loader, client fixes, etc. for both the server and the client. That means instructing users exactly what files they need to download and exactly how to install it. Distributing the minecraft.jar in any form is a violation of Mojang's ToC so you can't really pass it out other than some close friends.

Also, since it's not using Bukkit, you have almost no server utilities like the Essentials pack. I only have a server up between my close group of friends as you have to completely trust them to behave.

lol, yeah I saw that. Yogscast is really the only minecraft youtube channel I can watch. They make fools of themselves and are happy to do it. Everyone else takes their minecraft videos too seriously.

Kootra, UberHaxorNova, Gassy Mexican(they do a lot of vids together, but separately as well) are some other good ones.

Yea, I think I'll just take my old phenom 2 rig and run a server on it for a very small group of people rather than have him mess with his server ...

I'm on a uverse connection with 1.5mbit upstream, so it should be OK for 2-3 users a few hours a week...

I just got my connection upgraded and as soon as I get my router ports forwarding correctly I'm going to host a minecraft server with Bukkit plugins. Got 50mbit down and 3mbit up on a phenom X6 1090T 16GB ram 😀

Might wait to see what changes when minecraft 1.0 comes out this month (Friday Nov 11th I think)

You may as well get started figuring the server stuff out now. Bukkit usually takes anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks to release after an update. There are some big changes in MC 1.0, but I don't think there will be anything fundamentally different in terms of server stuff from the beta. Who knows though? Supposedly they've been in a feature freeze since the middle of October as the month before release is just an overall clean up of the game. I suppose they could have reworked SMP quite a bit but that would only mean that Bukkit could take weeks to update.

Is it still 1.8 or has 1.9 been released yet? Are they even going to release 1.9 or are they just going to go right into 1.0?

I know that the server I play on has said that they will need to start a new map with 1.9.
