Who's playing Minecraft?

One time while I was playing Minecraft I lost power and my save completely disappeared for some reason. I don't really trust it now so I like to 7zip my saves folder after every session.
 
So, i don't know if anyone else knew this, but I just found this out. For one thing, if you are say, making torches, instead of clicking the group of 4 and then clicking an empty spot you can just keep clicking.

Also, if you right click on a stack, it splits in half.
 
Is there anything special about the cobblestones with "moss" on them that you find in what I assume are monster dungeon spawn areas? Or is it just a cosmetic difference?
 
omg, I just connected to the server. you guys are INSANE! I'm just surrounded by huge freaking buildings everywhere...wow.

Just look different but generally you find them near monster spawn spots and usually chests of goodies are near it to.

I was weak and got the game and all I can say is when I mine again I am going to have to make my own mine from scratch.

Going in caves and exploring from there to mine is a big mistake as you get lost so easy and I had to dig straight up for awhile to escape. 😛

Just got the game... got it's addictive... One problem though; in multiplayer there is no damage from mobs, falls, or lava. Also you can't do any damage to mobs including to pigs, etc(so no hide or bacon). I've read that it's a knows glitch in multiplayer. Has anyone heard rumors on when this will be fixed? For an alpha game it's the only real hitch I've run into so far.
 
I just joined the server. I just bought the game actually. It looks like you guys have built quite a town.

EDIT: It keeps kicking me off after 30 seconds each time. Do I need an invitation to join the AT server?

That happens to me constantly, I don't know if it's my connection, buggy network code or what, but I've given up trying to play online.

SMP (survival multiplayer) is far from done and is truly in alpha stage (as the game already says).

Currently the creator Notch is busy setting up a new (small) business based around Minecraft and development of another game (which someone else is going to be producing). Until this is setup there will be little development on Minecraft, but when it is done he'll have much more time to devote to the game then ever before. There has also been a massive surge in new players he was not prepared for that crashed his website, repeatedly, and caused issues with paypal not being able to keep up with demand. These website issues have also taken up a great deal of his time and many a all nighter to get things up and running.

So that said, in the future expect SMP to be equal to single player and more.
 
Don't forget the weapon/tool damage bug in SMP, guys.
Throw a tool on the ground (press Q) and pick it up completely repaired! 😀
