Who's interested in the new Mustang SUV?

Lets be honest, this is Ford we're discussing. Nothing they sell in their regular line up is unique. They sell 80k Mustangs a year and a few years back it was 110k a year. I doubt in a few years people will even say "Mustang Mach E". They'll just refer to it as a Mach E.

So far everyone is just calling it "the Mustang SUV".

I was at a customer site today & non-car people were talking about it - they were confused why Ford would put the Mustang name on an SUV haha. Curious to see if it pans out in a few years...

Well, it’s a step in the right direction for Ford. Hopefully we‘ll see some good looking mass market EVs in the next few years. I do like that Ford included a basic forward instrument cluster in addition to the large right mounted multifunction display.

I'm casually looking for a replacement for my 2015 Edge Sport. I'm not sure this would fit my needs, I take a lot of trips between 150-200 miles one way, and I'd hate to have to go out of my way to try and charge the thing while I'm doing what I'm doing. Living in the upper Midwest right now there is not a lot of charging infrastructure conveniently placed since it i so wide open here.

There should not have called it a Mustang, unless they are replacing the Mustang completely with this vehicle. It's fairly ugly to boot.

imo they should have called it the "Ford Stallion". "Hey, have you seen the new Ford Stallion? It's like a Mustang, except it's an electric SUV that goes 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds". They could have bypassed the whole controversy with the name by doing that.

Even people who aren't "car people" aren't happy with the name. The "Mustang Mach E" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, lol.

It looks almost exactly like the Mazda "cross-over" vehicle.

Just a little less headroom in the back.

Clearly you've never driven one. I had a coworker who had a turbo Cayanne, and trust me it's worthy of the Porsche name. I was thinking
hard on getting the Macan, but the wife shot me down.

I test drove a Macan Turbo a couple summers ago. Thing was amazing. A sports car with SUV pretensions.

They might as well try. There are only so many country Johns, contractor Juans, and certain executives to buy new F-150s. Those and certain mother who buy their SUVs are their only reliable customer base because they've driven everyone else away.

There are a few SUV in same segment as the Macan. Stelvio Quad, GLC63, X3M, Fpace SVR all offer direct competition to the Macan.

It’ll be interesting to see the real world numbers as more hit the streets. While officially the Mach E is just barely under the Model Y in range, some real world highway cycle tests have actually put the Mach E above the Y’s range. The important part, to me anyway, is that the Mach E is consistently ranked better in ride, fit and finish, and infotainment. Which I expected. While Tesla builds running gear like a Bugatti, a decked out Nissan Versa can give their interior features a run for their money. Hopefully some competition will get Tesla to take fit and finish and interior quality more seriously.

It’s not perfect (nor was the Model S when it came out) but it seems Ford has really put together a good package for the money for their first EV “SUV”.
