754--but it should be higher.

I found out today when I got my car loan that the only negative on my record is from American Honda Finance Corp. for the Accord I leased 3 years ago. I ended up turning my lease in late, so I had to make an extra payment ($180.) No biggie, because I planned on doing just that. But I never got the bill for it. Even after updating my address to Rochester, for some reason after turning the car in they reverted back to my NC address. My dad kept seeing things in the mail but didn't tell me because he thought everything was paid off. I tried calling their customer service, but no joke--AHFC HAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! It is next to impossible to get a live agent on the phone. So I paid it 3 months late, and even though it never went to collection or anything, they left a nasty comment on my credit report. Bastards.

770 with my only problem being average length of credit card ownership because I've only had one for 6 years or so and the other is not even a year old.

But the older card just doubled my credit again last week, so it may be a little higher now. I have MyFico set to alert me when it hits 800. 🙂

Didnt the government pass a bill that allows you to get a free credit report like twice a year or something? Or is that just in certain states. I know we get it free here.

jpeyton, I love your signature!

btw... my best FICO was 816, my worse 714... last time I ran it.. 754.

Just run up a lot of debt, and pay it off frequently.. that's the key.

Your score means nothing, really. Creditors/lenders/banks look at many things when considering whether or not you're a good credit risk.

Any 25 year old earning $80K+ b/c of his/her Master's degree and no debt, might score high, but that doesn't mean they're a good credit risk. Income + payment history +/- missed payments is the best way to determine credit worthiness.

I'm not impressed, Paduwan.

isnt that how they come up with a credit score btw?

Credit is for poor people. I buy everything w/ cash.
Cash is for people who want to limit their life. You get wealthy by properly managing your money. That includes knowing how to properly use credit. Even the wealthiest of the wealthy use credit.

It is poor people who use credit improperly.

Unfortunately a lot of places will not take cash for large purchases, even if they did in many places it's a crime to carry too much cash around.

Most of the uber wealthy need credit. They also pay them off regularly unless they have a teaser rate that lets them put that money in a higher yielding account.

Take $10,000 at 0% for 12 months, put that money into something with a decent yield and profit. Even at 5% you net $500.

BTW, Im 34 with a 35 year credit history.

.....?

My parents put me on thier credit card that they got one year before I was born...instant credit history.

i guess they didnt need an SSN for credit back then... go figure... 30+ years ago.
😕

Yeah, what the hell... Are your parents Accountants or something? Who in their right mind thinks.... Gee, I'm preggers... Better put my fetus on my credit cards 😕

My dad used to work in the Banking industry...but as far as I know you can put anyone on your authorized users lists for a CC and they inherit all of the history of that card. All I know Is I used to have a card that said member since 1971 and I was born in 1972.

I haven't read through all the posts, but for those with an 800 or higher score it would be nice to hear a description of your credit in terms of how many credit cards/accounts you have, balance limits, etc

Mine is 760 last check.
