Ditto, the only times where it hasn't is the power/reset wires which I have yet to see a motherboard match exactly what they should be. Wish there would be a standard header or something.

hell yeah, it's only when you start putting in 5 hard drives, custom wiring, and kick it that you get problems. But damn, I gotta try that vegetable oil cooling over at tomshardware.

It's funny, like you say there is always something wrong, or something I forgot to do... :)

I've had tonnes work first time... but then again I was building 6-7 systems a day... kinda got a routine to it after a while... ;)

OMG, Bill Gates is holding your family hostage too? :Q

Yeah, first it was just unmarked envelopes with a letter in it that said Windows ME is good, and some white powder. Then he started calling my cell phone, saying he was going to mess up my family if I bought OpenGL games. It then escalated to him buying buildings in my home town and painting "Nate, if you do not install XP on every computer you build I will frame you for some sort of DRM scheme". Needless to say, I moved to a new city and changed my phone number, but it is only a matter of time before he finds me again...

I have never had a problem with a computer build...My first one was a 286 with jumpers to set for IRQs and the amount of memory installed and other fun stuff. :)

99% of the timme it works for me on first startup. It's not rocket science. Make sure the PSU is hooked up, CPU is in, video card and memory, HDDs, and power it on with pen on the pins... if everything is ok, hook up everything else.

Ya, sorry, they almost always work fine for me. Any times I have trouble are if a part is faulty, or sometimes with used parts. For the most part though, 99% no problems.

Though I think the trick is to do your research ahead of time to avoid incompatible brands of parts. Also don't install everything at once, just the mobo/cpu/ram and whatever else is needed to get the bare system up and running before adding any extras.
