Um ... hello? Tim Duncan.

Edit: damn, beat to it.

Ok then, I'll say Richard Hamilton.

aka "The Big Fundamental", as Mr. Bill Walton calls him

I would say that you guys are thinking fundamental in terms of size but not as a whole. No way Duncan is half as fundamentally sound as the smooth Ray Allen.

Yeah he is. Ray allen can't dribble and does not have some of the fundamental defensive or offensive moves. He has never been a great defender and is certainly not good at rebounding.

Smooth and fundamentally sound are not the same thing.

You're crazy or don't know basketball.

Ray Allen can't dribble? Can't imagine how that is true. I agree that smooth and fundamentally sound are not the same thing. He is not the best rebounder, but I don't think rebounding really is included in fundamentals. He can jump and that is fundamentals. His size limits his rebounding ability. Defense is somewhat not the best, but can get the job done.

LOL, jumping is not part of fundamentals.

I wouldnt even say Jordan was Fundamental
Duncan is by far the more funamentally sound (big name) that plays the game. Ray Ray probably has the sweetest shot though... why... WHY did my Bucks trade him...

kevin garnett and of course lebron james.

i don't know how you can call duncan "mr fundamental" - he can't even hit freethrows, and you don't get much more fundamental than that.

Kevin Garnett is pretty fundamental, but it really didn't quite work out for him this season.

Lebron? I didn't know 25 ft fadeaway threes were considered fundamental...hahahaha.

fundamentals are the basic parts of the game: shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defense, etc.

tim duncan is always regarded as fundamentally sound because of his unflashy, relatively "boring" game.

ray allen doesn't really do it on the defensive end, so he's sort of one dimensional to me.

yeah, Lebron has a very good all around game, but i'm not sure if that means he's fundamentally sound. although his outside shooting has gotten better.

Well your definition of fundamentally sound is basically whatever ray allen has then, because it's not what anyone else uses for a definition. Rebounding, as in the ability to rebound, box out, time your jump, etc. are all fundamental skills. Jason Kidd is shorter than ray allen, plays point guard, always runs a fast break, and still is a SIGNIFICANTLY better rebounder than ray allen.

Ray allen can dribble enough to move around with the ball, but he often loses his dribble in a crowd, way more than anyone else, and he frequently loses track of the ball when he's dribbling behind his back.

He also is nowhere near the pick and roll, or heck even pick, player.

Also want to note I've never seen ray allen make a bank shot, which tim duncan does at least once a game intentionally.

Duncan's free throws are a mental problem. Unlike say shaq or anthony mason, or ben wallace.
