My wife is part Samantha, part Jeanie, part Gracie and part Mary Ann. I got pretty lucky there. ;)

Gracie? George Burns' wife?

Witch to choose, witch to choose? Of course Elizabeth. I dated a girl for years named Elizabeth and she looked like her a lot.

Grandpa was often at his restaurant in Kansas City. Nice guy.

Samantha is the most adorable and intelligent of the bunch. She also has the most interesting personality. Marilyn I'm not familiar with but Jeanie and Ellie May are more typical 60's tv characters. Maybe not one dimensional but not as much depth. Not that Bewitched was deep by measure, but Samatha had a much broader range I think.

I sort of liked her family but I can see how that sort of drama isn't something you'd want a steady diet of - except on tv.

Glad I'm not the only one that sees this. Samantha is the one you actually want to marry. The others, while potentially fun and all, you probably don't want to be around more than a week at a time.

Probably Jeanie. You could hang out in that cool bottle and do stuff, and just wish for the Munster wife and Samantha, among other things.

Gracie was the one with the incredible comedic talent. George was just so-so.

That's crap. In a duo it takes a great straight man to make the partner look funny. George was one of the best. He's right up there with Bud Abbott, Dean Martin, Dick Smothers and Dan Rowan. Gracie was great because George was great too.

You are wrong. George on his own was A NOTHING! Really, he wasn't particularly good w/o Gracie.

Because he was a STRAIGHT MAN. Great straight men are not great on their own, they make their partner great. Try to keep up. What did Bud Abbott do on his own? Dan Rowan? Dick Smothers? Oliver Hardy? Desi Arnaz?

Wow, I've come to the realization that you are approximately the same age as me.

Probably not. I just appreciate the classics and acknowledge that history did not begin the day I was born. A lot of funny things happened before I was around to see them live.

Once Gracie was gone, he never found another partner to foil with effectively and his solo act was lousy.

Up until the age of 9, I believed that the past was in black and white, only because of all of the shows I watched were in black and white. Color TVs were being sold, but my family couldn't afford them as they were very expensive.

The world was black and white before Ted Turner invented color.

No shit Sherlock. What is your brain damage? Is there another language I could use that you might comprehend? He was a great STRAIGHT MAN. What part of that concept is causing you trouble? How was Bud Abbott's solo career? What the fuck did Lou Costello ever do that was funny without Bud setting up the joke? For that matter, how was Gracie's solo act?

George was the greatest straight man of his generation and Gracie was so great because he was so great at making her look great. Everyone on earth understands the role of the straight man in comedy duos except you.

I came of age in the era of color TV. But there was still a lot of great stuff from the black and white days at that time and I'm happy that I did not dismiss any TV that wasn't in color like it was automatically inferior. I would have missed a lot of brilliant material and maybe would be making a fool of myself by arguing without understanding the importance of the straight man in acts of that era.

He was a so-so straight man, no special talent.

You know you are old when you are having a George Burns and Gracie Allen argument.
