batman would win. spiderman's sense for danger isnt all that helpful. he knows ther's danger but he doesn't know where it's coming from. batman always seems to have what he needs in his belt, meaning, he'll never be able to be caught in spiderman's web. and spiderman will probably run out of web fluid. and if there's no buildings around, where would he swing to?

HEY, Spidey's got WAY more going for him than just webbing and spider-sense. He's got agility, spider strength, and mad fighting skills. He's smart, cool under pressure, and an all aorund good guy. The webbing is just a cute little bonus. And by the way, he carries extra web cartriges. Batman is too caught up with himself to have a chance against everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. So take that.

Okay...if there aren't buildings, then Batman has nowhere to hide. Therefore it's going to be essentially an open-air "fistfight". By removing the stealth, Batman is a normal human with gadgets to use against a SUPERHUMAN with a gadget (webshooters/webbing) and superstrength and agility as well as above-human jumping ability, speed and stamina. No contest, again. And the Spider-sense gives Spidey an "idea" of where danger is coming from; thus he dodges accordingly, like he's done in a million comics...

I know this is against the norm (*getting flame-retardant suit on*), but I think Batman's got the edge.

- Granted, Spider-Man has his superpowers. Batman's taken care of super-powered people before. He always finds a way. Always.
- Spider-Man is definitely more agile than Batman. This can't possibly be contested. But Spider-Man's main offensive weapon is his super-strength. Batman --well, see above.
- Spider-Man's backup weapon is his webbing. Well, Batman has some gizmo (he always has some gizmo :)) that can cut through it. None of this "he can't cut through the webbing, it's too strong" business. Batman's already found some way to make a sharp enough batarang blade to cut through it. He has always conveniently got the right gadgets. I'm not making this stuff up.
- Spider-Man's way of getting out of trouble always involves his incredible agility and super-powers. Batman always has that ever-convenient gadget he needs. If not, he pulls a McGuyver. Batman's middle name is "improvisation." Spider-Man's is "agility". Hmm... what are their last names? :)
- Batman's got gadgets. Lots and lots of gadgets.

BTW, this does not mean I like Batman more than Spider-Man or vice versa. Figuring out who would win in a fight is much easier than figuring out which one I like better. :)

...ahhh! If I would routinely have conversations like this with my g/f, I'd already be married! :D

<< I worked at a comic store for five years... one time a guy called up and asked if we had a couple of different back issues... I checked the boxes and we didn't have them, I told him so and he says...

"so, I was wondering if there were to be a fight between the Enterprise and a Star Destroyer, who would win....."

.....
>>

Now thats a match that I would love to see, but everyone already knows that the Star Destroyer would tear the Enterprise (A, B, C, etc) up into a million little pieces.

<< Batman would beat any superhero...he's just too damn slick. >>

Yeah, batman.. he would find spidey's weakness (isn't it something to do with sonic waves distributing his spider sense?) and expoit it... heck.. Batman even beat Superman (Dark Knight Returns comic series)

People...Spiderman is JUST as good at creating gadgets as Batman...he just doesn't do it OFTEN b/c either he doesn't need them, or others build stuff for him (like Reed Richard's Sonic Gun to harm the Symbiote Suits)

It is not going to be possible for Spiderman to lose, if we are having a fight that isn't based on hypotheticals like "Batman will always find a way to win" or "he'll probably invent something to defeat Spidey's webbing"...I could just as easily say that "Spidey always finds a way to win" or "Spidey will create ultra webbing to defeat Batman's technologies"

Physically, Spidey wins, no contest.
In terms of brain-power, Batman wins *slightly* (don't forget that Spidey is a great scientist/inventor as well)

Improvisationally, I'd say they are TIED, IMHO. Batman may always have the gadget, but Spidey always can create the way out...ALWAYS. And it usually is just as cool as Bats, the way he pulls it out. Remember, in his world, Spidey is as powerful proportionally as Batman is in his...so his super-strength is not such a great tool generally...

Spiderman is definitely smarter when it comes to science/math stuff, but Batman is definitely smarter when it comes to street smarts. Plus, Batman is fast enough to dodge bullets (on the TV show, after the Scarecrow sprayed him with that chemical that gets rid of people's fears, Batman just charged at 5 guys with guns).

On the other hand, Spiderman does have his superpowers so basically, they cancel each other out. No matter who wins, it'll be a damn good fight :)

(Those two are my all-time favorite superheros - it's so hard to choose!).

Okay, but you all seem to have forgotten the most important thing:

Batman looks COOL. Spiderman looks like a wimp in a bodysuit. I mean, red and blue? How lame is that? :p

;)
