Obama could have explicitly presented a well thought out plan to convert the US economy to communism and he would have still beat McCain.

Or, even better, Obama enters stage left with a t-shirt reading "Fuck the Police" and a ho in each arm. He settles down to a nice big plate of fried chicken and watermelon before trying to sell Bob Schieffer a vile of crack. He refuses to answer the first question, instead announcing that he has decided to replace Joe Biden on the ticket with Bill Ayers. Before the shock has registered, Bill Ayers stolls onto the stage and gives Barak Obama a terrorist fist bump and reveals that he has funneled most of Obama's campaign money to buy a shit load of gold plated Cadillacs.

The press doesn't care because they hate America, so they say Obama "won" the debate. The American people vote him in because they're too stupid to learn anything except what the "MSM" tells them.

I feel you JS, I really do.

Reminds me of last nights Daily Show(I think it was last nights). JS says something like, "After 30 years of being told about Trickle Down, the average American is looking around and seeing that he's not yet wet. When Barrack Obama becomes President, he'll come in and say, (gangsta punch)"Rain beeeeyotch!".

lol why do you lefties insist that Keynesian economics "doesn't work"?

Historical Record.

Yea, because Socialism and Communism has such a great comparative historical record?

Nah, because you fail at US History.

Just finished watching the debate...McCain did alright, but seemed to come a little unglued a couple times. I really liked how he went on and on about Ayers, then awkwardly started explaining how his Campaign was all about the Issues. Even Obama got a chuckle out of that transition and the Irony of it all. Obama did best in discussing Policy.

Those on the fence, I suspect, will likely side with Obama on Content.

McCain put up his strongest performance - too bad he completely screwed it up by pulling an Al Gore and looking like a complete asshole.

Progressive... well that sorta depends.

I always found the best way to examine a particular type of micro or macro action is to determine how it might affect this nation IF it were in a deflationary spiral. Supply push won't do diddley there as folks wait and sure enough prices will go down and down and down... while injecting bazillions of cash in the hands of the purchaser will create the demand to reverse it.. Then apply that to a healthy economic situation and it turns on its head... Supply will create demand as Say's law suggests and create jobs as more suppliers supply alternative products to eat up that bazillions targeted to the other end of the spectrum. So... progressive depends (IMO) on the accurately assessed conditions at the moment the action is contemplated.

Edit: to finish the sentence... hehehe

Great job Joe! You are rich and I congratulate you.

That won all small busoness vote right there.

Advantage President McCain

Correction...all small businesses that make over $250k of taxable income (I believe that's around 2-3% of small business). The rest just went Obama...;)

Kinda sad. The same sad I felt for Nixon as he waved fare well (the dirty bastard).

Sure not a reason to vote for Mccain (feeling sorry), but still kinda like
the end is near for his long story.
Mccain crying as a captive (PBS Frontline), talking about seeing his wife
hopefully again, was sad, very sad.
This, his last chance in his political career, is also sad (for him).

I dont think Mccain is stable enough to be president. It shows.
And while I will always support Obama, for Mccain, its just sad.
Like watching your dad in his last years. Very sad.

Who won the debate?
Who cares... Mccain tried, and just wasnt up to it.
Like JFK said, "the torch is passed to a new generation".
There was no way in hell Mccain could have stopped that from passing.
Even if Palin had her arctic dancing chicken at the rally's, they were doomed...
You just captured my sentiment exactly. I feel bad for him, though he has had a long political career and until this recent run for the president, a well respected one for the most part.

It is sad because it is his last effort. He sure won't be running at 76 to be president. This is it now.

In this last debate, McCain had to hit a home run, clearly out preform Obama, and he failed at that. Meanwhile, while McCain was talking, Obama was sitting there smiling, because seeming had a quick and coherent rebuttal already formulated. McCain is no longer debating his fellow failed Republicans, and now he is debating democrats who want to bring back the success of the Clinton years.

And its the economy, more than anything else, that is killing McCain, and McCain has been typecast into the role of Hoover in 1932.

Psst. One week from today, based on the polls, I might post two words that I never put together, ever. You're gonna have to wait for it.

Given the number of posts you've spawned here, I don't think that's possible, there's no two words you HAVEN'T put together, none in the entire universe - not even if you started posting in Clingon, Vulcan, Ori, or Wraith, or even just plain babble.

(Edit: Pardon me, I'm just grumpy in the morning. ;) )

McCain also mentioned "across the board" axing of the federal budget as his economic plan, yet on several occasions he spoke about all the new programs he wanted to start.

McCain did NOT do himself any good tonight.

I noticed this too. How are you going to pay for school vouchers with a spending freeze John?

My guess?

The same way you pay for all of Obama's proposals while still cutting taxes for 95% of taxpayers

Most revenues come from the upper brackets. And Obama didn't say he was going to freeze spending or balance the budget. Deficit budgets are good policy when the economy is contracting.

Yes it did. At the very end when both candidates were trying to walk around the table to shake Bob Schieffer's hands. McCain couldn't readily decide which way he should go around the table - so he makes a face... If you can call it that...

Bold - no, they don't (individual taxation amounts to a minority of federal revenue, no matter the bracket.)

Underlined - yes, I can agree with that (However, I note that Obama's plan was announced BEFORE this economic situtation became known.)
