Who Won the Debate?

  • Joe Biden

  • Paul Ryan

Results are only viewable after voting.
Probably, but it didn't involve anything of substance. Same would have applied to Ryan as well if he pulled this off. After listening to the last third or so (when I tuned in) I feel like I have to take a shower and wash the crap off.

Debates between duopolies wouldn't have any substance anyway.

I think the most important question tonight was whether Democrats would come out of this fired up with a renewed sense of fight for their side. Biden provided that.

I don't think this had a significant effect in regards to undecided voters.

You can tell how classy Dem Shills are by thinking a VP acting like an ass is worthy of his position.

On the spot refutations in this manner certainly do appear rude or argumentative, but when confronted with an opponent who offers complete fabrications or dodges specifics it's likely the best counter.

So, wealthy white guys like Romney. Go figure.

Geez... Why don't you bring up some polls from Fox News or MSNBC while you're at it.

I'm trying man at least it has "NBC" in the title. MSNBC probably had it 99% to 1% same with Fox with opposite winners.

To look like a used car salesman? Do you really believe that? C'mon man!

Biden, but he gave his opponents a stick to poke at him with by doing something unusual (smiling a lot) and getting too aggressive at the end.

Ryan is not inept or incompetent and is well studied, but as I originally thought Biden came across as a weathered old guy who's extremely experienced and knows what's up. Also played the VP card a lot, presenting himself as a guy in the know in the trenches while Ryan has been outside these big issues.

Point by a C-SPAN commentator was that if you were watching Biden's smiling and body language during Paul's comments, then you weren't listening to Paul's comments.

Biden won because he held Ryan's feet to the fire and didn't let him get away with his "malarkey". Facts do matter, and the Romney/Ryan ticket is short on those in favor of feel good platitudes and nothing more than a slight of hand trick for details.

Facts matter? Not to our resident ravers.

Ryan showed himself to be a presumptuous intellectual lightweight, a shill just reading from the script. He deserved the thumping he got.

I try to keep a blind eye to looks. I don't like when female politicians are critiqued for being attractive or not, and I try to have the same neutrality for my own gender as well. Looks don't matter.

I think he overdid the laughing and interrupting. But it'll probably get interpreted in an extremely favourable manner: "He was annoying with the interruptions, but it's because he truly cares about us." This certainly makes things very interesting once again.

Every dollar spent on attack ads and every minute spent on TV railing against Biden is time and money wasted. Vice presidents do not matter. This is solely to fire up the base, who just need to be convinced to make the trip to the polls on the big day.

I tuned in late, not expecting much after seeing Obama lay down and not put up a fight last week. But seeing Biden call out Ryan on his stimulus hypocrisy was gold. Somebody needed to put the Tea Partiers' bullshit back in their face.

To me, personally, I disliked Ryan. He was shrill. It came across as him lecturing Congress and not talking nationally to the American people. He is no Mitt Romney for salesman.

I already knew Biden was an !@# but I felt my dislike for Ryan grow.

Ryan's comments were so totally vacuous as to demand inattention, regardless of whether Biden was on screen or not.

He's the VP not some lame ass posting on Anands or talking at C-Span. He Needs to act the part. Why I didn't like Palin.

Could anyone stomach Biden as a President?

I did some fact checking and caught Biden in a couple of lies.

It turns out Romney and Ryan actually AREN'T his friends.

Biden answered the questions and Ryan just dodged them. I tuned in late, but when Ryan was asked what the conditions were to keep troops in Afghanistan, he didn't even answer it. Biden smacked down Ryan.

Agreed on this. I could just do without the interruptions and grinning.

At the end of the day I'd say Biden won overall but I can't help but wonder how many were turned off by his laughing, smirking and constant interruptions.

This could have been a much stronger victory had he not been, well, Joe Biden.
