With the raqsh of untalented and crappy pop artists recently, and many rock and rollers selling out (see U2), is rock and roll dying? Who will save it? A while back i thought Jet had sa shot, till iheard their whole album. Right now I think The Darkness and The Mars Volta have the best shot at reviving our beloved rock and roll from the clutches of the pop kingdom.

Rock and roll is alive and well. You won't hear them on the major labels, but there are a lot of really great bands out there.

the white stripes are damn good, but maybe you don't consider them pure rock n roll.

UGH jet sucks so bad. i saw right through all of their songs on the radio. hey i know lets rip off riffs from old real rock bands, and then slap our own empty lyrics on it and call it new. those guys are seriously lame.

if you want to find good music don't listen to the radio. though i was surprised when they started playing modest mouse on the radio. bout time i suppose.

the mars volta is about the closest and best "rock" band. way better than the darkness, that's for sure.

No, floyd was what alternative is today... its not straight rock, but a skewed version of it. The Mars Volta is a very interesting band with a unique sound.... something Rock and Roll does not have

The internet will save rock and roll. Record companies will one day go the way of the buggy and whip companies.

I miss the early 90s. That's when rock was the biggest (within the last decade anyways). I remember back in 1994-1995 when Pearl Jam was the biggest rock band in the world and concerts were selling out within 7-8 minutes.

I'm not sure who will save Rock and Roll, but I know someone who does!

Specop, when you're done explaining the cause and solution to depression, could you come in here and sort this out for us?

Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Rock and Roll

You can die in a great steaming pile of dog doo for that comment :)

As long as we don't hear 30somethings doing Time-Life music commercials about rock and roll music is making a come back...

Hell their is even 2 rockers on that pop show American Idol.

The way that so many rock radio stations have been shut down all over the country (many different post on this) it would almost seem as if there is some sort of agenda with the music industry to try and phase it out all together from the main stream, but then again, thats why I have an MP3 player.

Midtown's last album is pretty sweet. Queens of the Stone Age rock. The Mars Volta seriously needs... I dunno, something? A better vocalist? More sense of coherency?
