25 years ago, Republicans were already starting to go insane. Contract With America Newt and the crews that started to come onboard during Bush 2 were already on a rightward trajectory.
I think it goes back further…Truman desegregating the military started the exodus of racists to the Repub party.

Goldwater supplanting Rockefeller as Repub nominee hurried it along…Goldwater turned against Civil Rights Act after being for it and pulled more racist Dems to Repub party.

Then Johnson completely loses conservative Democrats by getting passed and signing Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act.

Racist Dems turned to the ever radicalized racist Repub party. Gingrich was icing on the cake.

You can just keep going back, sure.

But in the 90's it just went to a game of truth doesn't matter and we won't hold our own accountable.

At least Nixon still had enough votes against him to convict.

Good luck now.

Heck his (Nixon's) Republican party started the EPA. Yes, the world has changed, and not for the better.

Whoa...a Republican who's showing some integrity in the Walz service thing? (and it's on Fox to boot!)

Following in his father’s footsteps, Tim Walz joined the Army Guard, enlisting just two days after his 17th birthday, when he first became eligible, and served honorably for 24 years, achieving the highest enlisted rank offered. Then, he went on to serve as a champion for veterans and military families in Congress, leading the effort to pass a bipartisan bill to provide mental health services to veterans, leading a bipartisan effort to expand the GI Bill, and repeatedly voting to increase military funding. The nation should be proud, and JD Vance should be respectful of his fellow brother-in-arms.

The attacks on Walz have proven to be not only false but also disgusting. I will debunk the attacks that have been floating around. But first, keep one thing in mind: Donald Trump not only didn’t serve in the military, but he actively avoided service by claiming he had "bone spurs"—a diagnosis he received from a doctor who rented his office from Trump’s father Fred that the doctor’s daughter later called a "favor." Trump has spent his political career denigrating veterans.

Now, any military member thinking of running for office could be dissuaded. Who knows how any part of your military record could be twisted or distorted to make your service look less than honorable.
But it’s not just Trump’s words—his actions and policies are just as harmful to veterans. Trump proposed cuts to crucial VA programs as president.

With him, everything is a projection. In this case, he’s projecting his own bad policy and vulnerabilities onto Gov. Walz

They will make sure to purge the unbeliever soon enough. Their kind is not welcomed in the Republican party. Propaganda only, no truth allowed.

Walz has just a natural, common sense way of speaking. More and more, I'm convinced he was a great pick.

Walz would have been a Republican 25 years ago.
Before they went insane.

Maybe the old Tim Walz that won a congressional seat in a rural district. Certainly not the new Tim Walz that presided over the liberal agenda passed by the Dem Trifecta in the last Minnesota legislative session.

He's BAD NEWS! A MAGA told me that he signed a bill that will allow the police to take away people's kids at gun point if needed if the kids want gender reassignment surgery and the parents are against it. Even for a MAGA I was like WTF. But I Googled and a few sites mentioned he signed a bill that makes Minnesota a Sanctuary for Child Sex-Changes. I somehow doubt it's that simple, but they believe it.

The MAGA was fired up over it. I haven't had time to research it further, but them believing the police will be busting in people's houses with guns drawn to take kids to a secret location where they can change their gender in complete safety is fucking hilarious.

Meanwhile JD Vance sounds about equally as stupid as Trump, and he also has SUCH A PUNCHABLE FACE.

Yea, wonder how long it will take for people to get sick of it and see through his good ol boy country schtick.
If you mean talking like a normal person, then I'm not sure that's going to happen. What exactly about him do you think it's going to eventually turn people off?

He seems like someone who would be nice to have a barbecue with.

You still haven’t told us what you dislike about the infrastructure bill.

So the “liberal” agenda is:

1. Free school meals for every kid and free tampons in school bathrooms.
2. Maintaining the state’s infrastructure.
3. College tuition for families making less than 80k per year including the kids of illegal immigrants.

Anything I missed?

You cannot underestimate the importance of 'infrastructure' until you lose something or are at risk of losing something important. We all know about the big news bridge collapses in major metropolitan areas. But few know about critically important bridges that are well past their safe life in rural areas.

My part of this county is essentially cut off from 'land' by three rivers. Two of the bridges were built in the early 1900s sometime. One replacement bridge had JUST been completed and opened to traffic when part of the old bridge let go and fell about 10 feet. It wasn't more than a few weeks. For several months, traffic had been limited to three tons (basically a lightly loaded pickup truck) with police stopping anything larger. Truck traffic was rerouted over about 30 miles.

The second bridge wasn't much better and has since been replaced also. These are multi-million dollar projects than could not be funded without federal help Both of them are on the same US highway and carry large amounts of traffic daily.

So, what’s Walz done to be so horrid?

Last year, Minnesota established paid sick and medical leave, banned non-compete agreements and expanded protections for Amazon warehouse workers. In May, Minnesota enacted a measure providing a raise for Uber and Lyft drivers while averting a threat made by those companies to stop doing business in the state.

Walz enacted tax reform legislation that included a child tax credit worth up to $1,750 for each child 17 years old and younger in households earning up to about $96,000 a year

Walz expanded tax exemptions for social security payments as well as income resulting from student loan forgiveness.

Walz enacted tax increases for some wealthy individuals and corporations. The state imposed a 1% surtax on capital gains, dividends, and other investment income that exceeds $1 million in a year.He also raised taxes for corporations that bring in a portion of their revenue abroad.

Minnesota is expected to end 2025 with a $3.7 billion budget surplus.

Above shamelessly lifted from the following: (why replicate good work?)

In March 2023, Walz issued an executive order protecting trans patients’ ability to receive medical care that helps them live according to their gender identity. The order shields patients, parents and providers from punishment by other states for seeking and delivering such care. The next month, he signed legislationenshrining similar protections that supporters said would establish Minnesota as a “trans refuge.”

After Vice President Kamala Harris named Walz as her running mate, conservatives began attacking those actions, falsely accusing him of allowing the state to terminate parental custody if parents prevent their trans children from receiving gender-affirming care.

The Minnesota law allows courts to have “temporary emergency jurisdiction” during custody disputes crossing state lines if a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming care. Kat Rohn, executive director of OutFront, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in St. Paul, Minn., said the law gives courts the ability to resolve conflicts when parents disagree on whether their child should receive gender-affirming care; it does not remove custody from parents who decline such care.

Walz entered his second term as governor in 2023 after Minnesota voters elected a dozen state lawmakers who identified as LGBTQ+ — the most in state history.

Well, that's quite the nefarious laundry list of evil deeds.

And here I thought my guy Desantis was bad!

In seriousness, some of you have no idea how bad a governor can actually be. Some of us have Abbot, Desantis and so on. Granted, I believe one reason FL has become more red is that Magas are drawn here like flies to shit by Desantis and his anti-woke ridiculousness. He and his pet government just made it illegal/against the rules for any government agency to use the term "Climate Change"--this being one of the goofier things he's done, it's hiliarious in a sense considering that climate change has already started affecting the state economically and we are WAY early in that whole saga. "La la la, can't hear you, and no there isn't any water halfway up my leg" is some fine leadership.
