Who will be buying a 7800 GTX 512?

I got two eVGA 7800GTX KO and I'm happy with them. Maybe in the far future I'll get the Nvidia 9 series when it comes out. I wonder when that is.

i have an evga 7800gt, just got it a couple days ago from a friend, and im wondering, what is the time peroid for this trade up plan, basically im asking about the basics for the blan
 
I'm aiming to get 2 7800 gtx cards instead, considering they cost a little over what one of the new cards costs. 🙂
 
I was waiting for ATi's 512MB card, but following the debacle (confusion/availablility etc) of Crossfire, I find myself choosing to go down the path of a single 7800GTX 512MB until I wish to lay out for a top end SLi mobo.

Anand's review is out. This thing gives WAY more than a 5% boost. But then, it is WAY more than just a 512MB memory card too. They REALLY boosted the core and memory speeds on this card. In some cases, it was up to 60% faster than a 256MB GTX!

So, unless the G72 turnes out to be a shrink of the G70 and they put two of them on a card before I upgrade, I will probably be picking one of these up in February for (hopefully) around $550, maybe $600. The price WILL come down pretty quick after Christmas.

Now if I could just get a dual GPU G72 based card with 512MB and all the tweaks this card has... I would be willing to drop $900 on one. Of course, that would probably be the last video card I purchased for five years... But then, the $400 I dropped on my 9800 Pro lasted for over 2 1/2 years.

 
For that price? GTFOOH! 😛

I'm guessing in a year that card will be worth 50% of what you'll pay today.

I would be guessing ANY video card you buy today will be worth 50% what you pay for it. That is very much the name of the game.
