I plan to live forever. So far, so good...

(Actually, I'd want to do it only if I could avoid being "old"..)

Living forever is not what its cracked up to be.

Think about what you are doing now; how you eat, dress, and pay for things. You don't know the future, so you cannot make money by knowing things ahead of time. The same with knowlege. Living till judgement day does not make you any smarter than the average Joe. And too, just because you're an immortal, doesn't mean that you cannot be hurt. Regeneration is extremely slow and quite painful.

No, immortality sucks. I wouldn't wish that on anyone else.

I don't want to see my death coming. That's all I care for right now.

I don't want to be laying in a hospital bed saying my last wishes. I don't want to be dieing from a terminal disease that could take many years to kill me.

I would like something tragic. Like a car accident or a terrorist bombing even.

I think that the prospect of living forever would change the way we live our everyday lives. Death is a big part of life. We scramble around as fast as we can in an effort to build a life for ourselves, knowing that we don't have much time to do it. We take classes, persue careers, acquire wealth, have children, and do everything that we do with an eye to our legacies, because we know that one day we won't be around anymore and only those things will speak to furture generations for us when we are gone. If we were able to live forever our entire prospects would change. We would no longer need to run a rat race everyday in an effort to amass the things of life like trying to collect water in a sieve. I think it would be very liberating.

I'm all for the "Tuck Everlasting" brand of living forever myself.
