Who the hell burns wood at 4 AM?

Someone who cant sleep..... Try to go easy on em!!

Checking in.

My dad and I had a camp fire till 4:30am the other day. It was kinda surreal to start hearing the birds at 3:30 and seeing the sun coming up, and we were still out.

Turns out camp fires are only allowed till midnight though, that kinda sucks. Some asshole complained to the fire dept on another day my dad was out and they had to show up and get him to stop. Even the fire dept pretty much felt like telling them to suck it up. They told them to just close their windows. But since it's a bylaw, they can't ignore it. Good job to the complainer for waking up 4 firemen and having them roll out a truck for a non emergency.

Burning unseasoned wood in a city is a selfish, idiotic, prickish thing to do, because there's so much smoke. I completely agree with you on that. And most people in the city are too stupid to know if the wood they're buying is well seasoned or not. Burning good, well seasoned firewood results in very little smoke.

Living anywhere in or near a city is a selfish, idiotic, prickish thing to do.

I've always wanted to burn a tire, if ever I get the opportunity in an location that I can't get in trouble for it, I'd totally try it for shits and giggles.

It's pretty terrible for the environment, but in the time it takes for it to burn, all the cars and other sources of pollution combined in the general area spewed out WAY more pollution, so it's really a drop in the bucket. 😛

Indeed it is. Saw an idiot buy wood at the gas station the other day. It's SUMMER! Why on earth do you need wood?! I bet if people from the 19th century seen how we do things today they would all say, 'what in the actual fuck has society become?'

Burn wood in a rural area, not in the town next to your neighbor.

BBQs don't bother me. And I love a good ol' charcoal BBQ. Ate my first hot dog on a charcoal BBQ. Being in the pool and smelling the BBQ's I'm like, DAMN! I love summer! I fucking don't want to see that winter shit come back. I need to get the hell out of Colorado and move to Southern Texas near the ocean. Been here some 21 years and I'm sick of this state already.

Who ever this asshole is I would like to kick his ass! We have a whole house fan that sucks in the cool air at night and because of this dick head that is burnning wood the whole house smells like a fucking camp ground.

I have the same problem. Someone near me likes to pretend they are cooking out with a wood fire, it stinks up the area and sometimes I end up having an asthma attack. 🙁

Waah. Rant off.

BBQs are fine - they're over with in a hour or so tops. Meat smokers are a P.I.T.A.. Hours and hours of smoke. On a 60x100 lot that's just rude to the people who live around you. Back yard fire pits are almost as bad. I never understood people who don't take in to account where the hell they live. If you want to be fucking Grizzly Adams move out in the sticks and burn the place down like a cave man to your heart's content. If you live in a city, get a fucking clue. The people ten feet away might not want to smell your shit.

And if we say that about people who smoke, we'd get attacked.

LOL trippin over nothing. You live in Colorado smoke a fuckin bowl and bring your blood pressure down.

On the other hand if this is all you have to complain about than your life is fantastic. Enjoy!

I live in the suburbs. I have a fire pit in my back yard, and ocasionally make bonfires. If its the weekend, we will likely stay out by the fire pit until bedtime/sunrise ... I dont understand the problem, especially how the OP can be this convinced that its a problem 2+ years afre bitching about it.

People are inconsiderate. I try to not bug people. I think it's a good principle to live by.

In cold weather I make a very occasional small fire in my fireplace, after all I have no central heating and I have a whole lot of dry wood and kindling from my yard work. But I haven't barbequed in several years. When it's a no burn day, I don't, even though it's probably legal because I don't have central heating. It's not just a problem because of external air pollution, the interior air pollution isn't healthy, but it's nice to get warm from the fire, it's fun to make and look at.

Close your fucking windows you clowns. Problem solved no more big bad smoke.

If it is less than 70f Outside but warmer than 55f; I would like to OPEN the windows and turn Off the Air Conditioner.

My nearest neighbors house is less than 8 feet away. All Narrow lots here 26f wide for the most part.
So if someone 8 houses away is burning tree branches and cooking marshmallows at 8pm, or even 2am I have to suffer. The person I am whining about lives West of me, and downhill, smoke rises and the prevailing winds are west to east. Where does the smoke go?? 😉

Waah.

Since you have no other heat source it might pay to replace that inefficient fireplace with a more efficient sealed wood burning stove. Wood fireplaces actually suck lot of cold air into the house due to the draft but a wood stove with fresh air intake installed wont do this. Been pondering on installing one myself as supplementary heat actually. In January and February when it's -40 most of the time the furnace can barely keep up and it cost a lot to run it. Wood is surprisingly cheap, sometimes even free. (ex: pallets)

Actually, I do have it pretty good, other than no AC. The pool is fantastic.

You do know pallets are treated with chemicals, right? Just read you MSDS. Oh, you live up north. Do you have a MSDS type thing up there?
