Who the hell burns wood at 4 AM?

Don't know how its structured where you live, but if its getting to be that big of a problem, contact your local air district / environmental agency.

Since his wife left, he hasn't been cooking outside constantly. I even gave him a microwave I never used since she took his with her. I think he has to microwave his meals a lot more now since he's struggling to keep the house.

drunks making a bonfire?

illegal trash burning done at night to hide the smoke from the authorities?

Since you are fingering me here to show how LOL funny you think you are and stuff, I had no way to inspect the INSIDE of the house prior to purchase from the school district who owned it. Because the prior owner who never paid their property taxes for 6 years was living in the house at the time. I also paid them 1k to leave the property intact rather than evict them in the courts and have them possibly trash out the house. It would have cost me at least 1k to evict them, anyhow. And it was far better spent to pay them to get them out and get the house in one piece as a bonus.

Is that amazing enough for you?

😵

You must have had quite the hard-on for that house.

Parody thread in the making:

Hai guize, burning wood at 4am and watching my neighbor spaz out.

I agree though OP, the school behind my house decided to cut it's lawn at 6:45am last weekend after I just did an over night cutover and finally got to bed.
I was ready to go grab my 2" combination wrench and mimic a scene from Dodge Ball as the guy drove by my fence line.

yikes.

Well, it's a new year and my neighbor is at it again. It's 72°F and he's burning freaking wood. Can't even enjoy the day on the patio without smelling burning wood.

I've got 40 lbs of pork butt (bulk pork?) injected, rubbed, and ready to go on the smoker tonight around 1am. Wood shall be burning at 4am, 10am, etc. until hopefully around 3pm. Got about 90 people at the house tomorrow.

Who ever this asshole is I would like to kick his ass! We have a whole house fan that sucks in the cool air at night and because of this dick head that is burnning wood the whole house smells like a fucking camp ground.

lol you post in Anandtech, you cant kick ass.

You live right next to a school? Damn, I feel sorry for you.

I hate it when people burn brush and yard waste (even though it's illegal). That stuff smells the most.

But burning wood for cooking doesn't generate as much smell.
Outdoor burning is only legal if you're clearing land and burning stuff that grew on it. Burning trash is illegal because combusting the plastics generates dioxin.

I like it when people burn wood, it smells so good.

My previous back neighbors used to always make a camp fire and the smoke would normally make it's way towards the back of my house so I'd smell it pretty good if the window is open. Did not really mind it, and if it really bothered me I could close the window.

I'm a strong believer that people should be allowed to do whatever they want on their own property without being bothered about it.

I love the smell of any grill cooking meats. Wood itself usually isn't too bad smelling imo unless it's thick choking smoke. I don't even burn wood during the day cause I figure neighbors have windows open and yet I do need to burn some cause I have a crazy pile of sticks right now. Although some people like my co worker will flat out say "I don't give a fuck". Think i'll have to make an exception this year cause this pile isn't going away on it's own or anything.

Last time I smelled wood burning that early in the AM, it turned out that the wood that was burning was part of my house. 😱 That was shortly before this thread started too.

This is the most retarded thing to get angry over, ever. It's pleasant outside, of course people will be grilling and making campfires. If you don't like it get an indoor air filter and stay inside while the rest of us are having fun.

It's now going on 9 PM and I can still smell burning wood enter the house. I can't even smell my cologne FFS. No, this ain't a BBQ. We just had a BBQ and it smelled better than burning wood. I predect there will be another fire ban here in my neck of the woods in Colorado due to high fire danger this summer and that will make this bastad stop burning woood all damn day and night.

He might be burning out a stump. It will smolder for days.

several days. Mine burned his, I was OK with it...even though I'm pretty sure it's illegal around here.

The smell is awful, and of course the smoke blows straight towards my windows. Why does that happen every time?

The saga continues...

Stayed up all night watching a Lethal Weapon marathon on AMC so I slept on the couch. The window was open and I woke up at about a quarter to 11 AM to the smell of burning wood. So I'm thinking something's on fire because it's odd to smell smoke at such an odd time. So I check the garage and go through out the house. I get to my room (my sanctuary and man cave) and forgot the window fan was still in the window. Well, the whole room smelled like smoke. So it was then I realized that asshole was at it again. Not only was it a quarter to 11 AM but it must have been 75 degrees F (23 C to you non-Americans). Who the hell burns would at this time and when it's nearly 80 freaking degrees!?

I tried to sleep in my sanctuary and couldn't. So now I'm up. I just want to find this guy and shove a burning log up his ass! Have you ever been camping? No? Well when you get home you really need to take a shower because you WILL smell like you've been in a burning building. Smoke is a very powerful scent. All it takes is a minute quantity of smoke and it can be smelled for miles. Powerful stuff.

When it is cold, I burn wood 24/7.

When it's cold outside I don't have the windows open. What's so fucked up is that all winter the only smoke I smelled was from my chimney. I know that because I braved the cold sitting on the patio smoking a cigarette. Uless it dips to 8F then I have to go into the garage.

Its the weekend, why wouldn't 11 AM be a good time for a fire?

I have a charcoal smoker and 11 AM is a pretty common time to be smoking. I'll start at 9 PM the previous day and smoke the meat (in case of pulled pork; a pork shoulder needs alot of time) for 15 hours to be ready in time for lunch the next day.

When its nice weather, we burn campfires in our backyards all day & night long. Its nice to relax by the fire with friends over some beers and maybe roast some smores. And it keeps the bugs away.

When Im cleaning up the yard, I burn yard waste (branches, brush etc...) as its far easier than bagging it. Then you have to store it and put it curbside for the collection date. Burn it and then the ashes go in my compost.

Not trying to rub it in your face but just as you have a preference, others do too for campfires and outdoor cooking.
