Well the number one movie in the country after this weekend will be based on his life so.....literally millions of people care.

Anyone else find it weird that these two guys died and there really wasn't much of an investigation to speak of? I mean nobody really even cared to find out who the killers were once they died. It was just accepted that they'd probably never find out.
It was pretty good ammo for the "we are victims" crybabies like Jesse Jackson & Company.

Their argument was black victims never get the same kind of justice as whie victims.

But there's a difference between #1 and #4. Maybe he meant literally hundreds of people care.

2 million ppl x $10 per ticket = 20 million dollars

2 million ppl = millions of people.

So the difference between #1 and #4 is a million people big deal. Its still a strong open for an R rated film

Yes, millions of stupid people that are willing to shell out money for something is obviously an indicator of a quality product. I am sure it will be the "Tickle Me Elmo" of movies for a whole 72 hours.

He sold 20 million albums worldwide. It was front page news coast to coast when he was killed. Whether you like him or not is irrelevant. He is/was famous and will still be a legend 50 years from now......and you? I think we've established many times everyone is stupid so that point is moot as well.

think you are overstating his impact.
even mariah carey has sold 260million world wide. elvis est 1 billion units. he never reached anywhere near what it takes to be a legend.

elvis isn't a legend ? ORLY? neither are the beatles?

He's talking about Biggie. Biggie never reached anywhere near what it takes to be a legend.

I have NO sympathy for Tupac or Biggie. You choose the gangster lifestyle, you pay the price.

And LOL to people on here claiming nobody looked into the murders. Of course they did.

I think he was trying to say that they neither left that lifestyle or made "music".

Oooh.. so close.

eh, for being in almost 1/2 as many theatres as the #1 movie, Notorious did pretty damn well.

it has the highest average as well.

biggie is my favorite rapper and probably will be forever. the rap now a days is complete trash and has nothing on rap from the 80's and 90's.

my main gripe is that now 1/2 the songs sound like a damn computer is rapping.

"Left that lifestyle"? Now please explain to me how you know that? Did you hang out with them? Did you help compile phat beats? Or were they perhaps of the fresh beat variety?

If it makes you feel any better I have no sympathy for Kurt Kobain, either. Again, he chose the lifestyle and he paid the price, too. So if you think my opinion on Biggie/Tupac is racially charged, you're wrong.

He left what lifestyle? You mean the one where he was probably killed by gang members? The one where he comes out with albums called "Ready to Die".

He was selling crack up until 1993. His first album came out in 1994.

Same guy who participated in an East/West coast wars. He was accused of having prior awareness to a robbery and in the same studio where Shakur was shot and robbed the same night?

Wait, the same person who was arrested in 1996 outside a Manhattan nightclub for chasing and threatening to kill two autograph seekers, smashing the windows of their taxicab and then pulling one of the fans out and punching them.

In January 1997, Biggie was ordered to pay US$41,000 in damages following an incident involving a friend of a concert promoter who claimed to have been beaten and robbed by Biggie and his entourage following a dispute in May 1995.

Yep, sounds like a REAL class act. He totally changed his lifestyle. Get a clue, he was nothing but a thug, living a thugs life, and he messed with people who he shouldn't have.

Because if these were white artists, you can bet your ass someone would've gotten closer to the bottom line by now.

If they were white they would have gotten closer because they would not have to deal with silly shit like "stop snitching". The lack of progress in the investigation has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with the culture and attitudes in the rap world.

Look at all of the "who cares" quotes above you. That says most of it. If this were a "Who killed John Lennon" thread, you'd have none of the assholes spouting "Who cares, good riddance". And you're right, it's not about race so much as it is culture. I shouldn't have said "white" so much as "a non-rapper". It's the fact these two came from the slums that not enough people care who murdered them. Because they don't care for their work, they think it's ok to let justice go unserved.

And, yes, "stop snitchin" is pretty goddamn lame. There's a lot about the hip hop / urban culture that sucks and needs to change.

Funny that you should pick Lennon. People cared because what happened to Lennon was 180 degrees opposite of how Lennon lived his life and the views he expressed. On the other hand people have the same "who gives a crap" attitude when some mobster gets taken down because it is the life they chose. Rappers public image is not much better than mobsters so why are you surprised when people spout pretty much the same thing they would spout whenever any random thug meets their maker?

You know what, you're right. It's easy to say they weren't the best people in the world. Looking at their record, it's easy to say they never stopped living like criminals. But there's some point where the "who cares" responses become driven by the fact that they were rappers, regardless of their behavior. To some extent, this train of thought exists in our justice system. People justify the murders because of the lives they lived when not making music, and follow it up with a big, "who cares" and shuts the book on it, and it just sucks that could happen. And it's tough to compare these two to common mobsters when their music has influenced a generation. There are people out there who worship these two like gods. Should that have any bearing on the investigation of their murders? Absolutely not. But, it goes against the "who gives a crap" viewpoint. You might not, many do though.

I don't feel strongly about the followup, or lack thereof, of their murders, but I feel compelled to point out what I feel is the obvious : more would be done if the music they produced was different (hence the "white" comment, if a prolific artist who appealed to the middle class got murdered, there would be more public outcry for someone to take the blame). Justice for some isn't what our legal system should be about.

What I do feel strongly about is the fact that people don't care if someone is held responsible for a murder or not. Sure, in your eyes, they might have killed a couple of thugs, but the deed itself creates two murderers. You'd rather lose two petty thugs and gain two murderers?
