Well the number one movie in the country after this weekend will be based on his life so.....literally millions of people care.

Yes, millions of stupid people that are willing to shell out money for something is obviously an indicator of a quality product. I am sure it will be the "Tickle Me Elmo" of movies for a whole 72 hours.

He sold 20 million albums worldwide. It was front page news coast to coast when he was killed. Whether you like him or not is irrelevant. He is/was famous and will still be a legend 50 years from now......and you? I think we've established many times everyone is stupid so that point is moot as well.

Lol a legend.

KT

I know you hate black people and black culture but as a mod you could surely do better to mask it no?

Lol yeah right. Anyway, a legend in hip hop would be someone like Grandmaster Flash, or even KRS-One, or guys along those lines, not these two gangster wannabe idiots.

KT

Wow, no one would even know how ignorant you were about the rap/hip hop culture until you opened your mouth.

Please enlighten me, oh sage one. I'm no authority, but I do not think I am completely ignorant on the subject either at least on the music side of things.

Funny how people love to mask the fact that these two idiots are just two of the many douchebags "artists" who made their way slinging crack to their own people in the more economically-depressed areas...feeding off the weak to get ahead. It is heavily documented that both guys wore their gang-affiliations and drug-dealing on their sleeves like some badges of honor. Instead of selling millions of records and getting propped up on a pedestal to be called "legends" (just got to laugh at that one ROFLMAO), both of these guys should have been in jail long before they got whacked.

Who really gives $.02 who shot these two idiots...it happened...it was a sad thing that two people lost their lives. The thing to remember is that if they chose to walk different paths they'd more than likely be alive today. No one to blame but themselves.

Use the term "legends" on real legends like KRS-One, Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash, Kool Moe Dee, et al from that era...

So because they were a product of a poverty and made songs about what life was like for them growing up they can't be good at what they did and become legends. Why do you think they are so popular? Because a lot of people can relate. Whether you like it or not there are legends in hip hop and had skills that todays rappers wish they did. Have you even listened to any of 2PAC's early music before he became part of Death Row Records? It was the kind of conscious rap that gets no radio play these days.

Well, coming from someone who grew up on rap and hip hop from the days of Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, KRS-ONE, MC Shan, Fat Boys, etc., I believe a rap legend is someone who has a career longer than a one hit wonder, has songs that actually have a meaning (whether it be good or bad), use of metaphors that make you think and every song isn't about how much money, girls and weed they can smoke. KRS-ONE is still one of my favorite rappers, it doesn't get much better than "My Philosophy, By All Means Neccesary". Which he was on the cover of the cassette holding a gun and who also had a rap partner (Scott LaRock) who died as a result of gun violence after Criminal Minded. I don't know everything about everything either but I do know when it comes to rap both of these guys had skills.

Lol. No one is contesting they did what they had to do to get by but you are a fool to believe they would have brought more joy and inspiration to millions had they been in jail or worse. come on now you have more sense than that. Fact is they touched the lives of thousands in a positive way that most people will never have the opportunity to. So you should really think about who you are crucifying and for what before you start hammering them to the cross.

Not really sure how that confirms my ignorance, but whatever.

I guess I just never liked their stuff and the majority of the people I knew that listened to them, this is back when they were alive, were complete douchebags, so that turned me off them even more. I still can't imagine them standing as legends beside some of the true pioneers, but maybe I'm just too old.

I don't know if age has anything to do with it as far I'm concerned, coming up on 40 here pretty quicly. I can understand what you mean though. Being from Detroit I know douchebag people just like that who look at rap albums as the bible and a way of life instead of what they are "ENTERTAINMENT". I don't get it either and while I could have turned out a lot worse than I did considering where I grew up, common sense kicked in long ago. They are all studio gangsters and as much as they try to make their fans believe something different its all about making money. I realize that but sadly a lot do not.

Because if these were white artists, you can bet your ass someone would've gotten closer to the bottom line by now.

If they were white they would have gotten closer because they would not have to deal with silly shit like "stop snitching". The lack of progress in the investigation has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with the culture and attitudes in the rap world.

It was Vanilla Ice. He confessed. He even describes the killings:

Jealous 'cause I'm out getting mine
Shay with a guage and Vanilla with a nine
Reading for the chumps on the wall
The chumps acting ill because they're so full of eight balls
Gunshots rang out like a bell
I grabbed my nine all I heard were shells
Falling on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car slammed on the gas

 Notorious was the number FOUR movie in the country this weekend.

It got beat by Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Seriously. Have you seen the trailers for that movie?

It got beat by Gran Torino. Fantastic movie, but not a "blockbuster." It was its second weekend in wide release.

It got beat by My Bloody Valentine 3D, a horror movie released in January.

Hey, at least it beat Hotel for Dogs.

I think you have a hard time imagining life outside of your little world.
