I'm finding lots of results on google, the most popular one being Uncle Kracker
I always wondered this myself. Will look.
same guy who sings center field
I believe it was the Doobie Brothers.
EDIT: I believe it's Dobie Gray. It lists this song under his CD's on Amazon.com
It was most definitely _not_ John Fogerty. Try again.
EDIT: I'm not familiar with any Seger version of the song, though Bob may have covered it at some point. The voice in the original is _way_ too smooth to be Seger though.
Hmm, I think you may be right actually about the Doobie Brothers ^
the wire that is lime concurs
ed: different "Drift Away"? Or maybe a remake
Yep, it's Dobie Gray.
Damn, beaten to the punch... shouldn't have bothered with the link.
Much better than Uncle Kracker
Wrong - it's not John Fogerty.
It was Dobie Gray.
Dobie Gray sang the original back in 1973
stop watching American Idol and you won't ask such questions.
hehe, Yossarian beat me to it...but I watch the show, I don't care...being into singing myself, I like seeing the "talent" on the show. Today's guys...could have had better song selection for the most part, but the rocker that sang Drift Away was one of the better ones. Constantine, the other rocker, singing "Kiss From a Rose"...not good.
