I only use my laptop for 2 things -- watching movies / listening to music at work when it's super slow (none of our work computers have speakers), and as an emergency computer if my mobo dies or I'm in the middle of a reinstall and suddenly find that I don't have my raid drivers or something.

Me. It served me well during vacation, but that is just about it. I will have to resell this thing and get some money back as all it does is sit around gather dust. Unfortunately it is hard to make the decision to sell as there are times when a laptop is really useful.

I couldn't resist.

Got an HP dv1440ca for ~ $475 CND :D

Pentium M 750 (1.86 GHz)
1 GB RAM
100 GB 4200RPM HDD
DVD-/+RW/DL
Wireless B/G
Intel integrated crap graphics (don't really care; even not be able to do Vista's glass GUI doesn't really matter, since this notebook is merely a toy for me)
12-cell battery (supposedly 5 hrs+ of battery life, though i don't think it does that unless it's sleeping part of the time :p)
14" 1280x768 display w/ TruBrite (yay for the glossy finish i love!)

Anyway, i threw Vista on it, & well, that's about all i've used it for thus far in the couple weeks i've had it :p

thats an excellent deal! you could sell that and make a profit if nothing else! my notebook is half the ram, half the HD space, 1.5 ghz (earlier pent m model), and no dvdrw drive. lol

i sold 2 of them months down the line because i wasnt using them enough.

the third one ive managed to keep the longest. i probably will keep it actually, just incase i want a laptop in the future.

For $500 out-the-door, I can't complain.
Shipping: Sold Out
Store Pickup: Not Available
Price was on-line only while available.

Not quite. The notebook is featured in their AD. On top of that, over at Slickdeals, people have already said how they purchased it in store.

Thanks for playing!

I think it would be me. But I do use it quite often, or at least one of them  I seem to appreciate my older laptops more than my T42... Lucky for the T42 though, I baby that thing like a son, if I were to get married and or knock up some chick and I had to save either the baby or the T42, with out hesitation I'd save the T42. :p

Agreed, happens a lot to me.

I do... It's sitting under my couch, hasn't been used in over a year... I should sell it too, but I paid so much for it, and I'd get so little for it now that I might as well keep it around just for whatever... it's not like I need the $200 I'd get for it... if that... :(

What model laptop is it? How much did you pay for it? But yes, keeping it would make more sense, if you're not stupid like some members on this board, you'll likely be able to still find it useful at least 10 years down the road since computers these days are much overpowered.

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook P5020 (the 10' screen variety). I don't use it everyday, but it's great for crappers and on the go.

Have a dell Inspiron 6000 that sees very light use since I quit my job and moved back to texas. I used it mostly at work to watch DVDs, listen to music and play games when we had nothing to do. Now, it's left the house maybe twice (once when I went down to my uncles car lot to hang out and get out of the house, and the other time was when the power went out during a big rain storm, and we all vacated to my aunts house, where the power was still on) and is little more then a glorified mobile web terminal.

i got a top of the line ferrari 4005 laptop last yr when it came and the model was fresh.

and i only used it couple of time.. like hardly... i dunno i just use my desktop at college or when i go home, i use home computer =/

i always tell myself to start using my laptop more n more.. and use it as main pc but .. havent gotten myself to doing that yet

thinking when school starts again, i should just put my pc at home and just use my laptop 24/7 for everything while at school. that'll get me using it..

otherwise if my laptop is sitting next to my pc.. 99.9% of the time. its the PC

I bought a 700m about 2 years ago when Dell had 750 off 1500. I used it for a couple months and then I traded it for some other stuff, that I eventually sold or traded also :p

IBM T21 (IBM T20 series) easily can be found for under $500.

Bought a nice Acer widescreen back in Jan of this year. Paid $1200 for it. Now it's available for about $800. :| That's the way it goes.

When I travel (job or personal) the laptop comes with me. Other times, it sits in the case, doing nothing.

It DOES come in handy when I hose my main desktop system though. :D I keep current email backups on an external HD, so it takes just a few minutes to get my laptop "current."

I plan on keeping it for a LONG time. Unless you're gaming on it (which I CAN do on this laptop) laptops don't really get "obsolete."

Prior to purchasing the Acer, I had an ancient PII 300 laptop with 256MB of ram. It ran the internet and Office apps just fine.
