Thanx I didn't know they were that picky.. yeesh ah well guess i gotta sleep early

No prob and yes they are very picky. I had to almost go ballistic with a Staples.com Supervisor before he let me price match my Blue against a Graphite at Target.

Here's the funny part, next my sister calls and we're on 3way we get a CSR rep named DERRICK who did the whole process in under 30 seconds. She gave her order number, name said she wants to price match that's all he says "against Target's $199.99?" she says yeah, he says ok done. Your credit card will be credited with $50, thanks for calling. LOL.

If you call 1-800-3-STAPLES option 2 to price match and get DERRICK then consider yourself lucky. Make sure to have your Staples order number ready, and your local Target's phone number.

Derrick didn't even call my sister's local Target to verify they had her Graphite in stock (which they did).

i read that pc world article. THey bash the palm series for not being good at entertainment and not good at viewing excel and word documents. Really who really would use that. I'm sure tons of people cant wait to play asfs on their hp jornada 545s. And the palms got docked points for having small screens. I mean , geez if you have a big screen you have a big handheld. I can barely fit my palm 3E in my pocket without it being uncomfortable which is why the clie and the m10x are smaller.

I think palm has the right idea on what PDAs are designed to do . I dont think anyone is seriously thinking that they should be editing word files on a palm, having a color screen (what for right?) or watching avi's. Maybe in 20 years when we all have gigabit ethernet. Besides how can you beat a $100 PDA (my palm3e was $100 from redgorilla). Plus you have to reboot the winCEs just to get memory back. That in itself should dock it a ton of points.

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't want a PDA to edit long Word documents or work on Excel spreadsheets, watching streaming video, playing MP3's is nice but you don't have the luxury of having a 10GB HD like you do on a laptop. All I want is a simple date book, calendar, to do list, some small games, hacks, utilities and the Palm OS fits perfectly into my coat pocket. The Compaq iPaq can probably run circles around the average Palm but I want a Toyota 4Runner not a Chevy Suburban.

Actually, while you cannot add a 10gig drive to a PocketPC, you can add a 1gig IBM Microdrive. Also, in Japan, I have heard that IBM is marketing their 2gig version of the Microdrive. So, again, not 10gigs, but it will get there in time!

I have also heard that there are new PocketPCs coming out in Q4 that have DataPlay drives. If this is indeed true, then life will be that much better for PocketPC owners.

When I was working for Palm, there was never any mention of even touching the DataPlay drives. They have other storage interfaces in mind, but nothing like that.

Anyhow, if you are insistent on sticking with a Palm, I would recommend the new Sony CLIE that is going to come out. Some of it's capabilities are excellent and the Sony handhelds just look so cool.

I would avoid the Clie, simply because it doesn't have much support. Really the only game in town right now for the Palm OS is Palm (of course) and Handspring. In a year maybe the Clie will have won more market share, but that is purely conjecture. If you want PocketPC, I would probably stick with the iPaq.

Well, looks like i'm stuck with the palm xe.. stupid staples changed their price match policy last night.. so very sneaky. They wouldn't let me price match target because there was already a rebate on the visor. Very annoying..:( Without the pricematch it really isn't a hotdeal. Guess i won't feel guilty the next time i have a chance to take advantage of them.

ok i pricematched the palm with itself.. 149 dropped from 169:p Only prob was the b*tch decided to fix the inkcart coupon.. so -8 bux there:( total price is 117:( time to return the software.. should get another 20 back.

Zucchini - I'm sorry to hear that Staples screwed everyone over about price matching the Handspring Visor Deluxe with Target's lower price. The old saying stands, Staples is suck. Just wish you could have placed your order yesterday afternoon.

You still got a nice Palm though, at least it's not a low end Palm m100 or anything like that. I'm going to enjoy my $109 Handspring Visor Deluxe. I just gotta find a Best Buy which has the Neoprene case in stock.

heh, yea:(

My palm should come out to $97 i think. 20 more is staples store credit though because i only had a packing slip to return software. I still want the visor more though.. mostly because i'm shallow and want a blue pda:)

I cant believe no one has mentioned the wonderful products from the folks at Research in Motion!

The RIM 957 pager using the Blackberry internet service is the most complete wireless email/web/PDA going today!

(no that isn't my auction, but I do own a RIM pager/PDA, and they are like crack cocaine, once you have one, you won't be able to live without it!)

Hm well i ordered the visor again:) Blue this time.. ice was out of stock in my area:( Found a rep that would do it though.. now to cancel the palm.. hope it isn't much of a hassle. Only prob is the total still comes out to 130:p Lousy ca taxes:p

BTW, 408 946-6791 has stock on blue and black, store 408 2677900 has stock on black:p Useful for anyone living in northern ca i guess. Called 2387800, got some idiot that didn't know what a visor was.. kept trying to tell me the palm m100 with the different faceplates was it:p He hung up on me when i tried to convince him that he was talking out of his ass.. sad.

This is a phenomenal thread and board. I was shutout of the VX deal, also, 3X...went to the local Staples here in San Diego and after speaking to one of their salesman, he actually made my case with someone who authorized the PM and the coupon. Now that was a one in a million. Pointed out that HandSpring lady herself said all you need is the UPC and the receipt for the manu rebate and so I have it at 122+ which includes the 7.5% tax for the humiliating Gov Gray and the California Legislature that took all the money for energy deregulation in California...perhaps you've heard about it...lol.

thank goodness the Visor X is battery operated so I'll know what I'm doing during the energy blackouts this summer.

Hey, I love this board!
