I was wondering if people could weigh in on who they think makes the best PC notebook. I'm considering Dell, but I am also thinking about Velocity Micro, Hypersonic, ProStar, etc.

Also, a good warranty program is a must.

Any recommendations?

I have a powerpro from powernotebooks.com and LOVE it. But if u want name brands I would say IBM easy.

What about Five Star?

No really, though, my dad's dell notebook (Older P2 333) holds like 10 min of charge, and the screen's been long dead. They start breaking down after like a year or year and a half.

It depends on what you're going to use it for. For business applications, hands down, its IBM(particularly the T and X series). Cheers!

The best laptop is always the one you chose. But - objectively, year in and year out - it is IBM and then a bunch like Dell, Toshiba, Sony, and Beetlebomb. :)

For buisness I prefer Fujitsu or IBM since they tend to make notebooks catered toward those needs. For mainstream, Toshiba, Dell, and Sony seem to be popular. Apple of course is always innovative and expensive. Really depends on your needs.

IBM makes the best quality, but Dell are priced the best in terms of what you get per dollar spent.

IBM yes probably... but let's be honest a laptop is sometimes about flash... That's why I love my SHARP Actius which is .77" thick. I'm a top notch educated shopper and I found that in a hunt for a laptop... a 2 second faster boot time was less important to the fact that I wanted something smaller than an actual notebook in my backpack.
With the amount of quality products I would recommend quality but above all personal preferance, I mean if you hate how your laptop looks (coughIBMcough) then you might be less likely to whip it out:)

Even though I have a compaq (bleah! [in retrospect]).

Try doing a search in old threads. This question has been asked too many times. There was even a poll on it a few days ago.

I have seen it thrice.... and i have only been around for a month!! :)
