I just started and have been riding easy trails around Seattle like the Green River Trail and the Interurban, as well as loops around Tacoma. I have a used Surly Crosscheck on the way that I'm going to be taking with me to New Zealand on Christmas

What kind of bike did you steal?

lol, I forgot to post mine. My favorite route is The 3 bears in Berkeley, and my bike is a 2006 specialized allez sport with shimano wh rs-10 wheels. The group set is tiagra + a 105 RD, I think your Surly Crosscheck is pretty similar to my bike because both our bikes use the tiagra groupset.

I live in Fairfax County VA. We have a shitload of bike trails.

I generally go down the Fairfax County Parkway, but I always take my mountain bike so I can explore a random trail if I come across one. Plenty of opportunities there. 🙂 (see map)

I have a Trek 5200 -- carbon frame and Ultegra components. The weather here doesn't allow a lot of riding, but when I do and am in shape, it's a real pleasure -- especially acceleration, but also sustaining speed.
