Who keeps the Metric System down?

Horray for Burma!

<----- Is Burmese

Actually I'm not surprised Burma doesn't use the metric system. It's a pretty odd country under the control of some very odd people. I mean look at the really odd currency denominations such as:
45 kyats
9 kyats

(those are because an astrologer told the leader those were his lucky numbers)....

What a country!

P.s. I like the metric system in principle but since I grew up on the U.S. system so much, I have no idea in my head about how much 30kg weighs off the top of my head or how long 1.7m is. If everyone adopted it, I doubt it'd take long to adjust though.

i never really learned the english system beyond the basic gallon and mile. anything specific, i think im metrics.

I think it'd be interesting to find out where all these metric people live, like what country'
cause it'd be like, uber sad for those living in the US, "whats an inch?" how fast is 35Mph....
i'm going 35 kilometers per hour, why is everyone honking at me?

Yep, and that is the same for most of america. They are teaching metric in school though, and eventually we will do away with the imperial system.

who keeps the martians under raps?

who keeps atlantis off the maps?

we dooo we dooo

who controls the british pound?

who keeps the metric system down?

we dooo we dooo

when i think metric i think france, and i hate france. so therefore i hate the metric system. what's fun is my jeep has both imperial and metric bolts on it, yay.

gram...isn't that how they measure drugs?

I'm ready for the switch - I already confuse myself while guesstimating distances by thinking an inch is only a centimeter long 😛

My GMC's are both Canadian built and feature dual mile/kilometer speedos. Just give me my signs and I'll do it. Unfortunately all the fvcktards in this country will see "80" and not have dual-speedos (or even any idea that the signs aren't in miles per hour any more) and push their cars to twice the speed limit 😛

Metric rocks for business and science. It reduces costs and simplifies measurement & calculations. I like a system that is just base 10 (or 1000 if you like), intead of base 12,3,1760,8,4,22 & 5.5! and that is just for length!

I agree that imperial seems more "natural" and easier to relate to. It is easier to think of a foot (by the length of your own foot) than a metre. The problem is that everyone has a different perception of a foot.

I'm used to both. Although temperature I prefer fareignheght because...that is how I was taught 😉 I can't gauge "living" temperature in Celcius as an in Fareigntheight. But oddly enough I always think of water boiling at 100 degrees and 0 Degrees...never -32 and 212. Though when I'm doing anything else related to temperature beyond seeing the forecast I prefer Celcius. But weights I can think of both, same with distance....

For those that will never use the metric system, please refrain from using the metric units, Volt, Ohm and Amp.

anyway people wll come up with all sorts of arguments about how the imperial system is more "natural" or "easier" when in fact the only reason it seems so is that they grew up with it and/or it's deeply entrenched in society.

having grown up with the metric system i find it infinitely more intuitive than the imperial system.

We should ban all these French things

symbolic algebra
analytic geometry
Radioactive substances
Artificial Radioactivity
Pastuerisation
Sterilisation
Germ theory
Vaccination.

All these French ideas, I hate them. The world would be such a better place without them.

I cannot judge a person's height if it's not given in feet or inches.
I cannot judge how fast a thing moves if it's not given in miles per hour.
I cannot judge how hot the weather will be unless it's given in fahrenheit.

On the other hand... I cannot deal with solving physics equations if it's not given in the metric system.

Bingo!

Anybody remember the show Freakazoid when one time the narrator asked if the Us would ever accept the metric system?
Just reminded me of that.

On philosophical principal I dislike the metric system. It was and is a fix for something that is not broken. Just because people are too lazy to do proper conversions with the Imperial system they had to change things. Thant and Fahrenheit is more precise than Centegrade (180 degrees between boiling and freezing versus 100 for Centigrade).

Of course, there's nothing wrong inherently with the metric system. It's just kinda pointless.

Do you know what they call a quarter pounder with cheese in Paris?

They don't call it a quarter pounder with cheese?

No man, they've got the whole metric system over there. The wouldn't know what the fvck a quarter pounder was.
