Who is your home insurance company?

I just saw a State Farm commercial about how they'll "be there" when disaster strikes. They showed what looked like hurricane damage. I wouldn't use the asses unless I had to use them to get a loan: Link

I'm using Nationwide. I pay about $2700/yr. Who do you use?

Capital Insurance Group. About $450/year for excellent coverage...AND I'm in Kahleeforneeya...(does NOT include earthquake coverage.)

OP, being in hurricane alley MAY have something to do with your rates...

Oh, yeah, we're getting screwed. State Farm just went the extra mile and really put it to everyone.

State Farm. $490/yr.

My agent and his wife are awesome. They were great when we had to file a homeowners claim. Have our auto inusurance, and a life insurance policy through them as well.

Allstate in NY... they've been going up every year but I suppose that's par for the course... I think we're up to near $900/yr.

Shelter insurance.

When we added a car to the policy, the discount was large enough that the car insurance was free.

Same thing happened to my parents when they moved to Shelter insurance.

$2700 for home insurance??? where do you live, you must have 'full' coverage. my insurance is around $450, and I don't insure every little things.

Some local company:

$1400/yr

Used it a few times for water damage (backed up drainage lines) and wind damage (trampoline flew into our house and lost some shingles.)
"Yeah, that looks bad; here's a check!"

AAA

Auto and Home discount, another discount for being a member of a credit union.

$900/yr., 2400 sq. ft., the house is about three miles from the fire dept.

I hear the insurance through Costco is even cheaper.

What kind of policy do I need to find out the agents wife is awesome?

Travelers, through GEICO, who has our auto insurance.

$450/yr or so, with replacement value and sewer backup riders. $500 deductible.

We have all our insurance through State Farm also, and they've been good to us for over a decade. We paid $477 for this year's home insurance.

Considering that State Farm is pulling out of Florida because they allegedly keep losing too much money from hurricanes, it's unlikely they'll be there when disaster strikes.

That said, I still have State Farm coverage in Florida, at least for a little while longer. @ $900/year for 2500sf. We filed a claim last year for hail damage from a storm and they paid $16,500 after the deductible, which was enough for a new roof.

Hoarce Mann, was $580/yr but they bumped it to $640, no flood coverage, 1384 sq.ft., I'm not in a 100 year flood zone. Also have them for car insurance, after I got my "new" truck, it went from $380 to $884. I just recently switched car insurance to Progressive, better coverage for $494. Will be looking into combining both insurance to see what kind of rate I'll get.

I remember a former co-worker who had State Farm for everything, car, house, and boat. A hurricane hit Florida and his rates in TX went up because of that, service representative even stated that for a reason. He complained and got back down to his former rate.

Farm Bureau Insurance in TN. They beat everyone else by about $150 after paying their yearly membership fee of $25. Look and see if you can find a similar place in Mississippi. It's like the credit unions of insurance...they're a smaller operation and have less corporate expense bleeding them dry from the top down. I've probably saved $1000 in premiums during the 5 years I've had my home just because I went with them.

Shop around and make sure you ask for a policy with a $1000 deductable to do your price comparisons. It's rare that you need the insurance, but you gotta have it.

$2700, lmao.

Unless you live in a mansion out in the Hamptons, your getting ripped off.

In Fairfield county, the average is probably around $1000/year.

I've got no choice, unless I want to move far away. Insurance is going up all around the state. I know people who pay $6000+ per year. As far as my house, it's a 1050 sq. ft. house which didn't flood or take damage during Katrina.

From what I hear, insurance rates are going up this year. Some say they might double.

Wow, that's just insane. What's the reason for having high insurance rates to begin with? Near hurricane prone area? 1 year flood zone? Tornado Alley? They hate the state?
