I kept the height the same as it was previously (measuring from pinch welds) and didn't touch any of the alignment bolts when doing the install. Unless alignment changes when removing the upper-arm bolt or the shock-body being not as tall as what was on their previously?

A set of Motons was out of my budget.. I believe Moton was acquired by AST recently though.

Replaced a power window regulator in 00 Jeep GC yesterday (rear passenger door). For $65, it sure beats what most people pay a mechanic/dealer. Didn't take too long, for even a novice like myself.

Camry left me stranded for the first time in 15 years. $40 ignition coil that took me 10 mins to replace (requires removing distributor) in the field. But the morning was lost on waiting on a ride to my house for tools/clothes change, standing in line for half an hour at the parts store waiting for people who don't know what they need, etc.

Don't carry tools in my cars, they do no good since any failure I will have will involve replacing a random part which I won't have on the spot anyway.

I just replaced the coil almost two years ago, and at that time out was still the original 14 year old OEM Denso 1995 coil. Not sure if it's because the cheap chinese Autozone shit (only part they have when you need to get it moving right now) or maybe the ignition module is getting flaky and not closing the circuit completely causing too much back EMF and heating up the coil, etc. The resin filler was cracked open and the secondary measured 3 ohms when it should be like 300k or something.

I need to buy an old car again so I can fix things and work on the car... My new car is just no fun that way.

Picked up a new project about a week ago, have it running now just for ease of moving it around, 1974 2002 autotrajic ( better for the 5 speed swap as they have a wider tunnel right where you need it for the clutch slave ). Surprisingly clean accident free for 700$.

Got it stripped down today so I can start filling holes for stuff that has to go like lower trim line, entire front bumper, stupid DOT side marker lights. Picked up some sheet metal yesterday, tomorrow I'll start cutting out patches and welding them in.

IMAG0002.jpg

This one will get a complete color change to light blue, refurbed suspention ( new bushings, bilstiens, springs, anti roll bars ) and a M42 1.8 16v and the 5 speed out of a late E30 318is ( so just a mild good driving car ), not stupid like my 75 2002.

Sweet 2002.

Put new belts on the old 89 dodge caravan turbo. Was planning to replace the whole van but the cheap used car market is crap atm.

I replaced the igniter in the MR2 today, chasing an intermittent stumble - it's doing it much less often, but it's still there..

Did a PPI for a friend on a 1980 928S euro model. Told him to run away from it....

Rainy day for construction so we pulled a trans on our f250 and sent it out to be rebuilt.

I tightened all of the cross braces on my z4 and installed the bmw strut brace I've had for awhile. Also cleaned up the engine bay and wiped down all of the rubber seals, along with a pre-season detail.

The ranger got an air filter and oil change, along with replacing my coolant overflow tank hose which had sprung a small leak. It also got a minor engine bay wipedown, mainly to look for anything loose, cracked, or aging.

Next up is transmission and diff fluid change on the z4.

....My ranger doesn't specify diff fluid change interval. It's on the original fluid at ~150k, but it's an open differential. Is it worth changing?

I took them out of mine and never put them back. The centering rings do a good enough job holding them in position anyway.

I did an on-the-road fix on the Forester today - had cruise set on the highway when the car stuttered and threw a CEL. I checked it with my Accessport and it was a wastegate-related code. Turns out a vacuum line (associated with the wastegate) had split. I reset the codes and fixed the vac line - problem solved.

I need to change plugs and fuel filter on it too - maybe next weekend.

He'll run it again for free after I get done porting it.

Picked up a used Bosch mounter and balancer and used it for the first time. Sadly the balance was completely screwed up because like an idiot I forgot to use the hammer drill and mount them to the floor of the shop..

Three hours later were all good!!!

MS3 had been running like crap occasionally, threw a CEL for a lean burn condition. I popped the hood and tada! A coupler on the CAI had come loose. Tightened it up and was on my merry way.
