You'll need a tuner.

Samsung makes one that's for Over The Air only...no satellite tuner portion.

Also, in what city do you live??

And like we told you before you need to open the manual and find out if it has the built in receiver.

Going to a friends party to watch the game....not sure that his set has HDTV...it's a 50 something inch Mitsubishi he bought 2 years ago......

Check out TitanTV.com....they are unreliable, but check it out anyway. Once you go there create a new account and login. Click the button that says My Guide. After you click on My Guide, make sure you are on the tab that says Digital. Once you do that, you will be able to find out if your ABC affiliate is carrying the game. Again, they are unreliable so even if they don't say it, doesn't mean your affilate isn't carrying it. If you have ever been receiving HD from ABC, you will most likely be able to see the game in HD.....

Not necessarily...I live about 50 miles (at least) from the Kansas City affiliate's tower and am still able to receive the signal. It depends on where you live. What is the name of your local ABC affiliate? Also, just in the manual to see if it has a HD tuner in it. Or, post the model # on the web so we can help you (or look it up yourself on the web)...

which affiliate do you get your ABC from (stations name)?? which city is it out of??? Are you saying that you get it from Detroit?

Looks like I'm out of luck. I'm using my DSS reciever as my HDTV tuner, and I get some digital channels, but most of them I don't get. I live about 1 hour from Detroit so I have no idea whats going on....

I did that last year and projected it on a video wall that is 19' wide. LOL

I know I'm sounding like a retard, but how does this thing work (i.e. is there any sort of special tv connection I need like satellite or something to get HDTV?)

Yeah, the PCI card is a High-Definition Decoder ATSC Tuner. It's just like the ATI TV tuners, except this can decode HD signals. You just connect an antenna to the card and it does the work. Then, you watch the content on your monitor. You can also send it to your TV with a cord.

I first started my HD adventures through this route. Once I saved up some cash, I bought a 47" Panasonic, and a Samsung HD receiver.....

HDTV Superbowl for us tonight....got Cablevision to come in yesterday to switch our box to HD.

My son is already bouncing off the walls waiting for it to start.

This is in NYC suburbs, BTW.

this HD broadcast is hoorrible (said like Bill Walton).....

--Madden is describing SD replays (i know, what can u do about that??)
--Audio is a tad off (no 5.1, lip syncing is off)
--HD cameras are secondary to the SD cameras (in a big way)
--The half-time show was shot horribly (i'd rather see Shania, not the back of some dood's head)


Oh well, the quality is still superior to SD....

our ABC affialiate in Denver has the weakest tower of any other TV station in the city. So people that either live in downtown Denver or within 5 miles of it can watch the superbowl in HDTV. The rest of us are SOL.

The audio was off late in the 2nd half for me but otherwise seemed great to me. And those trailers...WOW! widescreen and dolby digital. When the trailer for Bad Boys 2 came on with that initial gunshot I jumped! :)

Considering it was ABC's first foray into sports HD (at least that I'm aware of) I was very pleased. The picture quality was better than I've seen on the CBS SEC games.

Sounds like it's hardly worth it yet...better to wait for a 50"+ OLED in a few years mmmm.

yeah, 50"+ OLED's will be nice....but, we are still 5+ years off from getting them, at least most of us. besides, the problem wasn't with the actual TV, it was with the production value on ABC's end.

as far as tonight's broadcast goes......it was worth it by far......i mean, the quality alone is worth it....I never even considered switching to SD.
