Just a thought, but I'm pretty sure that (in typical Blizzard fashion) the expansion will be released one year after the game went live in November 2004. What I suspect is that the level cap won't be raised, simply because it'd mess the game up, because all high level content (including instances that aren't even out yet, or just went live less than a month ago) are designed for 60s, and raising the level cap would trivialize them...you could do MC with a pickup group of 30 75s, for instance. And it would also mean to redisign, from the ground up, all the talent trees(to acommodate for 10 of 15 more skill points)...doubtful because they are still not even done revising the current ones.

I'm pretty sure the expansion will be just an ueber content patch with hero classes, and maybe a new continent.

However, since I never played EQ, I don't know how expansions are handled in that respect. How did they raise the level cap in EQ without messing the game up?
If they have any intelligence at all they will have designed the game with a lvl cap raise in mind. Perhaps their hero class idea will deviate from levels somehow, doubtful but who knows.

Yea, my wife and I play almost every night, and we love every second. We found a wonderful guild, and I believe that makes all the difference. Really mature players, laid back, similar play styles, and all about having fun.

We're also on a PvE server, and we personally enjoy PvE much more than PvP. In fact, we moved from a PvP server because it just wasn't anything like we expected. I currently have a 39 Tauren Shammy (OMG *so* close to a mount!) and a 17 Troll Hunter. Love 'em both. The wife's a 38 Troll Mage.

Love WoW. Love it!

Yea, I've heard lots of rumblings and grumblings about hitting 60 and the lack of content after that point. I'm both anxious and scared for that day. However, at my current pace, I won't be at 60 anytime soon.

All kinds of things, though I come at it from mainly a tailor's perspective. Pearls are a good example. A lot of the crafted cloth armor on my server sold (or didn't even sell) at the price of raw materials. Part of it is players basically buying their skillups and trying to recoup what they can fast by selling at or below cost. Another is the lack-luster stats where it's easier and cheaper to whomp a monster and scoop up whatever comes out of his loot-chute.

That's not to say that you can't make money crafting and selling by any means. You can get lucky, or you can spend a lot of time monitoring the market. But almost any time I've measured the time vs earnings, questing and grinding would come out on top and with an xp gain to boot. Some make the argument that you can grind for the crafting items and then they're "free," but then so are all drops which you could again sell as raw materials. I've made some money on crafting and the market, but again it's pretty underwhelming from what I've seen.

Here is an example from BloodScalp (my server of old, before the SH people came and ruined it). SpiderSilk Boots sold on the AH all the time for around 2.5G. The materials needed to make it were as follows:

The server community determains the price of the goods, most of the time duel gatherers make the most money.

Spider's Silk X 4, Spider's Silk on BS sold for around 75S a unit at the AH. Total for SS: 3G
Iridescent Pearls on BS sold for around 1.3G a unit and you need 2 of them. Total for IP: 2.6G
The silk cloth and the leather was very cheap due to undercutters, price for all the leather/silk needed was around 35S.

Total cost of materials needed for SS boots: 5.95G
Average buyout price at the AH: 2.5G

I fight the inflation by selling stuff cheap. Or i will be when I get back into Azeroth. Beware all ye who inflate.

It's just the immersion-breaking kids and l33t d000000dx0rz that grate.

At any rate, what are they suppose to be like that will be different? The server I've been on was PvE.

The new RP servers will launch with the next content patch, 1.7, see this blizzard employee's post:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa...ow-general&t=4292464&tmp=1#post4292464

There will be PvP RP servers now. I just hope they launch some new RP PvE servers along with them. The current ones have been around far too long and have medium - high populations. Inflation would be mad as most people have several level 60 characters along with all the inflation caused by the gold farmers. As for what differs them from the other server types, read this and no, you dont speak in old english:p

Umm, we did Ony with 29 lvl 60s and have done bosses 1-6 in MC with 30 lvl 60s.
Out of combat Resser FTW!

You killed Garr with 30 people and with OOC being removed two patches ago?

Right.

What is the difference between pve and pvp

PvE = Player vs Environment
---------------------------------
In PvE players can only be attacked if they "turn on" their pvp flag by one of the following actions:

typing /pvp
attacking an enemy npc
attacking an enemy player who has their pvp "flag" active
entering a Red zone, ie Arena, Capital city, etc(?)

PvP = Player vs Player
--------------------------
In PvP pay attention to the fact that all zones are either Green, Yellow or Red.

Green zones indicate friendly territory which means you cannot be attacked unless you take one of the actions listed under PvE rules. Green zones are naturally Red zones for the other faction and being in a Red zone means you can be attacked by any player.

Yellow zones are "contested" which means it's free for all combat (excluding in faction fighting which is not allowed, at least not physically). 90% of the zones in Azeroth are Yellow - contested so being on a PvP server means being ready to fight another player at a moments notice.

Also, there are no 'PvE' servers. This was one of Gurck's complaints. All servers allow PvPing, through the methods that Malladine mentioned, or by entering Battlegrounds. What many people call a PvE server is referred to as a 'Normal' ruleset server by Blizzard.

I'm only 52, so I'm still having a bunch of fun just exploring the map and doing some random quests (although admittedly the quest system could have used a whole lot more variety than it provides - more quests along the lines of Cortello's riddle for example). At 60 I may quit or I may roll an alt, but if I stick on my current unstable server (Archimonde) with my guild I'll probably run Onyxia and do some MC action (they're 14 wins/1 loss on Onyxia, and they've beaten all of MC save for Rag).

Exploring is sweet.

Who the hell can farm the same instances multiple times a week, every week. Who. Freaks that's who. Stop it.

There is plenty of upper level content, but it just doesn't last when you start to get to weeks of in-game time at lvl 60.

The biggest issue for me is that Blizz decided to make the end-game 100% raid content. I'm in a small guild with about 15 of my RL friends. In order to participate in the raid content I have to decide between leaving my friends to join a large raiding guild, or team up with other guilds, which results in disorganized raids where everyone is fighting to get the best loot for their own guild.

We tried to team up with bigger guilds on a couple occasions, but in both cases they stopped inviting us once we started building up enough DKP to bid on the good items. For the most part I've just given up on raiding until we come up with an arrangement in which my guildmates and I don't get shafted.

So now when I feel like playing my main, I have very few choices in what to do. I can:

A: Go grind for faction in Alterac Valley (I'm pretty sure than once I get exaulted with the Frostwolf I'm never going to play AV again).

B: Go grind for cash on the fire elementals in Felwood or Ungoro

C: Go do BRS/Strat/Scholo/DM for the umpteenth time for a chance at one of the few upgrades I still need.

Character advancement at this point seems like work, not a game.

If you're not in a guild that raids MC/Ony/BWL on a regular basis you will definitely get tired of being level 60. The guild I was in from level 20 up until a week into level 60, broke up because we were a medium size guild with about 30 level 60's. Most of us went into a much larger guild with over 130 level 60's that raids every week. I can't see being where I'm at right now, almost 20 days played at level 60, and not being in the current guild I'm in. I would've quit quite some time ago.

Lots of ways. Being greeted by friendly people is nice. In game chatting about things other than the game is nice. Needing help with a quest or anything and having a dozen people willing to fly across the continent to help you is great. The lack of reliance on PUGs makes the game 10x better by itself.

Also, organized Guilds that have schedules of events makes you want to play the game more to join in. We often have cool "games" like creating 2 or 3 "competing" groups, met up at an instance, then see who can accomplish goals the fastest. We can call out times in Guild Chat or on TS, like "Killed Ugly-ass Troll in ST at time 11:43," we then talk about our playing and post results on the Guild website. We also organized a tournament with a Horde guild at the Arena in SV. We had a Battle Royale, tag team matches, 1-on-1 eliminations, etc. Things like like that make the game fun, and you don't even realize that you are grindinga nd leveling.

I had a blast Sunday evening, when a 60 and his 56 alt (separate account, he plays both simulataneously) invited me on this series of quests (I don't even know the name of it, but it starts in Blasted Lands, killing servants, dealing with the fallen Horde hero, traveling to Azshaha, forging the weapon, etc.) I had just turned 54, yet after ~2 hours of playing, I had crossed the world 3 times, gained over 120K in XP, leveled to 55, saw a giant fart a bubble and pop it, and earned 145g by selling dropped Blue items. We talked about all manner of things while playing and he showed me things I had never noticed before. It was amazing.

You rarely have that kind of experience playing solo or with a group of wankers.

4 Epics in one weekend (3 AV exalted + 1 MC drop) last weekend was nice. Little bit of a let down when I realized that the remaining "grinds" on my to-do list have slightly less impressive payoffs (exalted Argent Dawn for the +5% resist all shoulder enchant? Annoying time/reward ratio to say the least).

Figuring out how to get the last ~50 fire resist for 260 unbuffed is annoying too.

Still having fun overall. 60 Warrior PvP (over half /played @ 60), 35 Shaman PvP, 2x22 Druids PvP.

Having fun doing strat and scholo 5 man to finish quests.

Haven't even been to MC yet but I've had full Lightforge for quite some time.

I just like the challenge of going into a place that is usually done with 10 man raid and doing it with 4-5 players.

I've been thinking about coming back since I'm pretty bored with all the MMOs I've recently revisited. I reactivated EQ2 and cancelled last night since I'm not liking the new combat changes. I recently re-cancelled City of Heroes because it got boring fast. I'm thinking about trying WoW again after only getting a human priest to level 36. I don't have a guild or anything so I'm wondering if I should even bother. I've never played Horde so that may be an option.

Meh.

I agree. Everyone just raids Strath and Scholo and what not, but there's a huge sense of accomplishment in doing it with a small group (not to mention is much more fun).
