Yea, I've heard lots of rumblings and grumblings about hitting 60 and the lack of content after that point. I'm both anxious and scared for that day. However, at my current pace, I won't be at 60 anytime soon.
There is plenty of upper level content, but it just doesn't last when you start to get to weeks of in-game time at lvl 60.
The biggest issue for me is that Blizz decided to make the end-game 100% raid content. I'm in a small guild with about 15 of my RL friends. In order to participate in the raid content I have to decide between leaving my friends to join a large raiding guild, or team up with other guilds, which results in disorganized raids where everyone is fighting to get the best loot for their own guild.
We tried to team up with bigger guilds on a couple occasions, but in both cases they stopped inviting us once we started building up enough DKP to bid on the good items. For the most part I've just given up on raiding until we come up with an arrangement in which my guildmates and I don't get shafted.
So now when I feel like playing my main, I have very few choices in what to do. I can:
A: Go grind for faction in Alterac Valley (I'm pretty sure than once I get exaulted with the Frostwolf I'm never going to play AV again).
B: Go grind for cash on the fire elementals in Felwood or Ungoro
C: Go do BRS/Strat/Scholo/DM for the umpteenth time for a chance at one of the few upgrades I still need.
Character advancement at this point seems like work, not a game.
