I go away for four weeks overseas and come back and all this guy is a font-runner from what I am seeing in the press?

Who is he?

If he's an extreme social conservative from Texas, I can only assume that the "mainstream media" wants to thrust him into the lime light. I mean, Obama would probably walk all over another white Texan who most likely will campaign on abortion and gay rights in the midst of all that we've got going on right now. And worst of all, he'll steal thunder from the other Texan who should be more of a front runner.

I wish Republicans would swear to put social issues on the WAY BACK burner for 2012...
 
Catering to the lowest common denominator. And the press buys into it. I don't get it. What kind of poll would put him as a front runner? They must have ignored the phone calls that answered 'Who?'
 
He is someone who has three threads in the Politics and News of the AnandTech forums.

He is also the official mascot of the conservative / tea party / republican members of this site.
 
Don't worry if he throws his hat in as it seems you will find out who Perry is soon enough. He has enough skeletons in the closet to ruin his chances with all but the rightest of right wingers.

He will have to severely moderate some of his more famous positions to even have a chance at the republican nomination. He is an extreme states righter that has even espoused secession from the union for Texas. And has constantly keep the state embroiled in battles with the EPA and most all governmental agencies. He has openly backed the idea of a constitutional amendment to ban abortions and overturn Roe v. Wade, as well as an amendment to ban gay marriage.

Under his term as governer Texas has gone from middle of the pack in education scores to nearly dead last. He has almost tripled the states debt while slashing most state services. He crows about his record of creating jobs in Texas but fails to mention that the percentage of minimum wage jobs to total jobs has skyrocketed to the highest in the nation under his watch. The real reason for the job creation in Texas has been the insane population growth and have nothing to do with Perry's policies, yet we still have one of the higest state unemployment rates in the nation.

Perry is dumber than Bush and far, far more of a right wing tea party supporter. But the real story is he may be the biggest two faced political cameleon that the US has ever seen. Perry will change his position at the drop of a hat if he thinks it will get him more votes. All you have to know about his ability to transform is that he has gone all the way from a democratic liberal who once was Al Gores campaign manager to a right wing bible thumping tea partier.

What he is is a plastic man (kinda like Romney, but with better hair) A slick snake oil salesman, able to sell the willing an image of a "conservative" while selling them down the river, and not giving three shits about what they actually think.

Perry is almost as big a philanderer as Palin is a slut, they wouldn't be able to keep their hands off each other. They would be bumpin uglies for God ya know 😎
