Don't think I wouldn't love it to be the case, but BB6 is non-existant inside RIM for devices that are already launched, and especially for one that is two years old (S1). We get prototypes all the time, my wifes in the Beta device program, etc, etc, so I'm not making this up, you're just not using any OS6 files.

By all means take a screen cap of DTM, but also include a cap of your device about screen.

I dont think you understand what a hybrid is.

A hybrid is composed of different files such as the best Radio code, the best keyboard code..ect and compiled on top of a core OS such as 5.0.0.591. Which is the one I am on now. There is/are some 6.0 files in the hybrid.

I have a World Edition on a Sprint Sero Plan.

I'm not happy, but I certainly am satisfied. I admit - I lust after a Droid phone, and behind that an iPhone, but while my BB works and my sero plan works, there is no chance.

I'm currently running a hybrid on my Storm 2, I've always had betas and in fact have an unreleased beta for the Storm 1 you'd love as it's probably the best I ever used on it.

My wife works for RIM, I way ahead of you or anyone else in the blogosphere with regard to BB6, and I am telling you; You do not have any OS6 files. None at all.

I respectfully suggest that you either put up or say no more about it. Prove to me which files they are, which versions they purport to be and then I'll believe you, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I like my 8900 but I really wish RIM added some more features to their phones to make them a bit more like android. I really cant argue with function though.

I setup my moms 8330 before I gave it to he (birthday) and while I admit I prefer the Droid, I see no reason to hate on Blackberry.
And your battery could be bad. If you use some basic power management you'd be surprised how long that bastard can last.

How am I hating on Blackberry? I said I prefer the Droid, I didn't say I hate the Blackberry.

BB phone function is borderline retarded - somewhat agree
Browser is primitive - very agree
Resolution is suck - somewhat agree
Cheap hardware - disagree
on and on

hardware is actually pretty high quality. not apple quality but on par with moto and better than HTC and palm IMO.

Under modules there are many but here are two

Net_rim_jaxrpc 6.0.0.31
net_rim_loader 6.0.0.31

it seems all the 6.0 files came from the same version .31

btw that beta you have, does it have Handwriting support?

OK, colour me surprised. I conceed you do have OS6 files in your build, looks like they were picked from a 9800 build that was leaked. Interesting.

The S1 beta I had is old, but probably the fastest and most stable 9500 5.0x OS I have ever used. It was an internal Beta that never got leaked, and no, it doesn't have handwriting rec., it's just too old.

So are you saying that OS6.0 will be compatible with the Storms?

lol, told ya. The Hybrid I am using is very stable and very snappy. If you have an old beta then its prob not worth anything now lol.

I am using This Hybrid its .591 based, There was a new OS Leaked again .685 so soon there will be a hybrid based on that.

I honestly never ran with an official OS since they sucked so much. Hybrids seem tons better. and Shrink an OS program that that guy made (in the link to the hybrid) is amazing. With Stock OS I would have like 18megs of free memory. With the hybrid, compressed ..ect I have 35mb its really great.

I showed someone who has a S1 with the latest Official OS (its like .328) how fast the camera loads and how fast it locks and unlocks with this build and he was genuinely surprised and is interested in it.

I use Shrink-a-OS. I have an S2, see sig, so I cannot use the same build as you, not only that, but I have a DRM 9520, which also limits my OS choice. However, having an S2 I don;t have issues with memory. I only had to reboot after a 99Hr uptime run because the new eBay app needed it after the update (I had the beta).

However, I do still love my Storm 1. I was THIS close to going back to it when I first got my S2. The machine-gun problem affected me quite badly and I almost threw it into a river several times. Plenty of OS' later and the knowledge that greasy hands/face cause the lower part of the touch unit issues I'm as happy as can be expected. However, I'm all over BlackBerry 6 like a fly on sh1t when it comes out on a new device.

^ lol dude I am pretty much done with my storm, I hate it so much, if it wasn't for this hybrid OS I would of switched back to my U740 lol. I even switched back to a Moto Q for a day but google maps did not work on there lol.

I just need to wait out a month or two for the Droid 2 which I am looking to get.

That's cool. The S1 was developed from scratch in about 10 months. You can probably understand now why it launched with such weak code. The hardware isn't so bad, in fact the chipset it's based on is very good, but execution is key and there wasn't enough time for that. Verizon were riding RIM hard for a touch device.

That sort of thing will never happen again. It was a tough lesson for RIM, but they have learned. The next 18 months will bring some pretty amazing BB6 devices. Mark my words.

In the meantime, enjoy your Droid 2. I'm sure that will be a pretty sweet device.

It won't be. BB6 requires a 512Mb device. The S1 will never get it, the S2 may get a version of the browser, but not BB6.

You can mix and match some files as the OS is JVM based.

Wait, so since it requires a 512mb device then it is a no-go for the 9700? Kind of a stinky move, considering that they showed the WebKit demo back in January running on a 9700. But I guess we won't get it after all...

Not saying the browser won't come to these devices, just not BB6. It's not really that stinky, you have to draw a line and all mobile OS's do this, even iOS4.
