While BB's may not be as fancy and flashy as Android, iphone...I personally think they are damn good phones and rugged as hell, not to mention awesome battery life.

My wife is. She was intrigued by the iPhone 4 for a few days but realized that she likes having a physical QWERTY keyboard and she can't pry herself away from BBM'ing with her sister and cousins LOL.

My personal phone is a Curve, I have dropped it in water twice, on concrete at least 15-20 times and this thing is still rockin.

I support them at work and do not like them. I think the interface is horrible compared to the iPhone or even Android phones. But, they are built like tanks and help you focus on your mobile tasks because they're more, hrm, limited than their competitors - people know they're for "email" and that's usually that.

I would love to switch to iPhone (Exchange heaven!) when they come to Verizon.

^ ha with you on the second gen product how do you think I feel I am still on the First gen.

Dont forget to mention that all BB OS's have a huge memory leek and require you to battery pull every day if not every few days.

Have you tried the hybrids OS's that are on Crackberry for your phone? They are worlds better then the ones that are released by BB.

I'm a complete gadget geek and a compulsive phone upgrader, but I held off forever on using a RIM device. I supported them during the early days (think 8xx, 9xx, 5xxx, 6xxx), and ever since have always thought of them as having been insanely boring, behind the times, and single-purpose (email). So, I've used PalmOS, Symbian, a couple of Iphones, just about every WinMo device that my company offers (and a few they don't), and have dabbled with Android (though I use the word Android loosely since the only phone they offered until recently was god-awful.)

However, recently I had the chance to get a company phone and was given a Bold 9000. Wow! It just gets things done. From a software perspective... The email (of course) is flawless. PIM functions are great on a BES (bye, bye desktop sync). I can do most of my job from the device in a pinch thanks to great access to our corporate intranet via BES (something that no other platform can touch right now) There's an app for everything I need. Context menus, in general, are well thought out and have all the options I need for the app at hand. The media functions, while not quite as sexy as those on the Iphone, are very usable with great sound quality. Overall, the software is good enough that I don't even miss having a touchscreen.

From a hardware perspective, I love the feel of this thing! No sexism intended here, but it just feels like a man's phone. The size is perfect for my large hands (I'm 6'4", 220). The keyboard is, without a doubt the best I've ever used on a phone. I can fly through emails, texts, etc. almost as well as being on a PC. The screen size & clarity are great. To top it all off, it's a great PHONE. Call quality is flawless, the speakerphone is actually usable, and it integrates well with any external BT headsets/speakerphones I've used. Battery life is equal to or better than any phone I've ever had.
In fact, I liked it so much that I jumped at the chance to use a Bold 9700 as my personal cell when a friend offered an unused extra. Other than some disappointment at the smaller (but still usable) keyboard and screen size, it takes everything good about the 9000 and one-ups it.

I'll admit that some of the "fun" factor of the latest consumer-oriented phones hasn't quite made it to the Blackberry yet, but I'm absolutely sold on their ability to do what I need to do. I'm hoping that they'll innovate and bring some consumer appeal with OS 6 and upcoming devices, especially since the gadget-freak in me is already getting the itch to upgrade... ;)

I got my mom an 8830 to replace the 7000 her office gave her. She likes them for the same reason she prefers Windows 2000 to XP: Its what she knows.

have a tour as my work phone, I support them for a living, and I have to say supporting BB's is cake (especially through a BES).

Bought a used 8320 in the middle of my contract, and it's been a good phone. Browsing is horrible and BB OS isn't great, but reception, voice quality, battery life, keyboard are excellent.

LOL no offense, but I see nothing has changed since the storm 1

BB is dead in the water, i had a storm 1 with all the problems mentioned.
I did look at the storm 2 to give one last fair shake but it was the same sh-t.

I've since had a droid and totally forgotten about the miserable BB experience.

Have a Blackberry Tour. It's not a horrible phone, but I still can't wait to get rid of it. The track ball is horrendous, making browsing a web page and clicking on links impossible at times. Updates are also a very bad experience.

I still love them and I can see past the Browser, the Long menus and the memory leaks (which are due to OS builds, not an inherent OS design failure). No OS is perfect, even the poster children of the week ios and Android 1.x-2.x have more than their fair share of awkward issues, reboots and slowdowns.

What I do love about BB is when you are on a roll, getting work done, having fun with games or apps and keeping in touch with BBM, all at the same time there is nothing like it.

Currently running a Storm 2, which I love, except for when the screen gets dirty and the hang up, esc keys become one or refuse to operate. Just clean the screen to fix.

I had a Verizon Curve 8330. I was happy with it. It was kind of sluggish though.
Since I switched to a Moto Droid, I miss the following.

-Profiles with holster modes for each profile.
-BB IM. Beats the heck out of texting.
-Battery life.
-True BT Voice Dialing. (Fixed with Android 2.2?)

I feel for you.
though you guys are capable of running the same exact software as the S2.
the only difference are the 4 keys at the bottom and the screen has 4 piezo sensors as opposed to your one button in the middle.

i have not tried the aftermarket OS's. i'm going to stick to stock as to not screw anything up because this is my only phone (no landline) and is CRITICAL for work.

I HATE that.

What about when your phone is locked so you click on a button to wake it up and the screen goes "Screen is locked, press the Power button to unlock" so you hit the power button and it turns the screen off.
wtf is up with that?

If the trackball is your only complaint, get the Tour with the touchpad instead. huge improvement over the ball.
