No I heard something that sounded like a boo, but really the show didn't have any wild cheering, it was more or less polite claps.

and a wii.

i doubt you will be alone.... you know microsoft has to be smiling ear to ear tonight. and rightfully so... they really do have the better plan this time around.

Wow so they scrapped the pos boomerang and went back to the dual shock, only without vibration, and with tilt sensing, and wireless. Doesn't this seem counter-intuitive? I'd much rather have vibration rather than gimmicky half-assed tilt sensing, which is nothing at all like what Wii has. All that for only $599. oh if you don't want HDMI and wireless you can pay the low low price of $499.

It looks like Sony is going down in a huge ball of flames on this one, leaving Xbox360 and Nintendo to really cater to their own audiences.

edit: just another thought, don't you practically need HDMI to fully take advantage of BlueRay? What's the point of no HDMI if it hurt BlueRay performance? This makes no sence, PS3 is supposed to standardize BlueRay.

With Wii under $200, if they have enough supply, we'll see a lot of people picking one up just because it's pretty cheap, especially when PS3 will most likely have a shortage due to low yields on the CPUs.

Umm does anyone know how the ps3 controller is powered?

I read ign's review of the controller and they mention feel and all. but nothing about battery.

will it take AA? AAA? Lithium ion?

If its lithium-ion Sony will put another nail. Because you know if they use those, they won't sell you replacement ones shoudl the battery every die out and would expect you to buy a new controller. Controllers are not sold at a lost either as accessories give companies huge profits.

The only reason you would buy the $500 system is if you dont have an HDTV, which means you probably just spent more money on your console, than you did your TV.

I imagine it charges via the usb port, so probably li-ion or some sort like that.

I. difference between 499 and 599 models.

499 -> 20 gig hard drive, NO HDMI Out, NO built in wifi, NO built in memory stick/SD/Compact flash reader.

599 -> 60 gig hard drive, HDMI Out, built in wifi, built in memory stick/SD/Compact flash reader.

II. Controller Vibration dumped in favor of the motion sensing thing

III. PS3 to be a huge sucker too.

ps3 dimensions.

325mm (W) x 98mm (H) x 274mm (D), weighs 5kg

compare this to the xbox 360

309 mm(W) x 83 mm (H) x 258 mm (D), weights 3.5 kg

here's the original xbox's dimensions

320 × 100 × 260 milimeters, weights 3.86kgs

to be fair we don't know what the ps3 power supply could be, it could very much be a cord. I'ms ure if you ad in the xbox 360's power suppy the weight would be more too.

Holy crap, you meant the thing is almost as big as and heavier than the original xbox? That'll be a hit for Japanese homes.

Only a handful of those games look as good at the best 360 games. I doubt we will see much better graphics on this thing than the 360.

bwahaha🙂

i dont like the idea of having to tilt and keep my controller still. u know how people really play, better to be in a relaxed position than having to keep awkwardly balancing a dumb controller in a stable position😛

500-600 dollars. ack. add the fact that sony is essentially the mpaa/riaa too... stay away...stay far away.

microsoft is a bit sh*tty at times but atleast they don't sue their customers. remember that. 360 price drops ftw!

and the e3 conference was just boring. too much non gameplay footage. cut scene nonsense is totally meaningless.

You're probably right, but $399 for the upper end 360 in a special package including a certain Bungie game would certainly be a crippling punch to Sony's gut.

Still, the fact that you could probably buy a 360 and a Wii for nearly the same price as PS3, hard to make a mistake there...

theres no certainty it won't drop. this time they own all the ip and can cost cut just as sony did on their consoles in the past.

Who's guessing that Sony will pack in this Gran Turismo HD tech demo with the PS3 at launch, then delay the game another year or two?

You better believe it. Microsoft blew it with the 360 launch, because it was nearly impossible to find in stores after the first day. Now that the cost per unit should have started to fall, this is a great opportunity for them to perhaps make a profit on the unit.

 Even at 600, it still cheaper than a Blu ray player is going to be.
