As long as a Bulldozer build(CPU and Motherboard) is competitive with Intel in price/performance I'll buy one. If it falters on that then I'll be heading for a Sand Bridge build.
The suspense is killing us, and I want to see a what a real modest CMT CPU can do, that isn't tied to some oddball niche workload.I am considering starting up "YET another AMD Bulldozer Thread topic... We all love them so much!

Maybe it would make sense if I had worded it as, "you may as well go do that, because the suspense is killing us" ?But why quote me on that?was it related to what i said haha

I'm considering it, especially if it works (unsupported) on my existing AM3 board. I need to buy some sort of hardware, and there aren't many other components that would benefit from an upgrade (on a PhII 955 now).I know I am. I held off on Sandy Bridge, and I know I said I would likely wait for a few years before replacing my Q9300 CPUs I just upgraded my desktop rigs with, but ... but... I want an 8-core. Just because. The quest for ridiculous e-peen continues.
Interested to see what BD can accomplish, but perplexed by the people upgrading with every generation of CPU who still don't run an SSD. Can anyone explain this logic?
I have a q6600 @ 3GHz that performs well enough for me. But it runs pretty hot, and it is most annoying at idle because speedstep only takes it down to X6 multiplier (which is sofa king retarded... I should never have bought the chip). So it never really runs in a power saving mode and yet it is on a lot. Big power hog. I am looking for BD to give good idle power consumption. Under 40 watts idle at the wall socket would be great (including juniper class video card). Idle power is unspeakably high right now.
Its doable. This guy supposedly runs a quadcore BD oced to 3.4ghz at 0.925v, look at those temps.
