As long as a Bulldozer build(CPU and Motherboard) is competitive with Intel in price/performance I'll buy one. If it falters on that then I'll be heading for a Sand Bridge build.

I'm considering it. I want an epic comeback, or some form of competition so things can get rolling again.

I'm interested in the X8 or X6 version of the bulldozer if they have one
My last 7 cpu purchases have been intel, time to try AMD again.

my thinking is keeping the same or better performance as my Q9450, but using less power

From what i've read it'll be announced/launch the first week of june, along with apu/gpu announcements/releases possibly.
Availability can take longer, not sure how long it'll be before we can buy them :/

Holding off upgrading my Q300. If Bulldozer can compete with Sandy Bridge, I'll go with AMD this round. If not, Sandy Bridge it is.

I've always been an AMD fanboy at heart :)

I am considering starting up "YET another AMD Bulldozer Thread topic... We all love them so much!

The suspense is killing us, and I want to see a what a real modest CMT CPU can do, that isn't tied to some oddball niche workload.

I want a 6 core BD now. Planned to get a Thuban before but it was obliterated by Sandy so I decided to wait for Bulldozer instead. I have a couple of OS that I would like to use VM with so a 6 core BD would be the best choice without causing lack of CPU power to my host machine when I allocate 2 cores to my guest OS. I hope it is worth the wait. :colbert:

Im waiting till 2012 for the BD with IGP I want to see how much power that IGP will have. That is unless they release a Dual core BD @$89 like they did with the phenom 2 and I can get an Am3+ board at like $59 bucks then yes I would definitely jump on something, probably wait till BF this fall. Im all about getting the most for my money.

I definitely would. I haven't had any issues with the amd systems I've built. If I cared so much about ultimate performance I might go Intel, but I like the underdog lol.

I'd like to, but AMD is gonna have to pull another K7 and come out from nowhere to take the crown. Probably isn't going to happen.

Interested to see what BD can accomplish, but perplexed by the people upgrading with every generation of CPU who still don't run an SSD. Can anyone explain this logic?

It all comes down to price/performance.

If BD blows away SB at close to the same cost with the same number of cores, sign me up. I just built a 2500K system but I still have my Athlon II 630 system. So if BD is really good I would rebuild the Athlon II system with new ram + BD + MB.

If BD sucks, I'll wait for IB to rebuild the 630.

I know I am. I held off on Sandy Bridge, and I know I said I would likely wait for a few years before replacing my Q9300 CPUs I just upgraded my desktop rigs with, but ... but... I want an 8-core. Just because. The quest for ridiculous e-peen continues.
I'm considering it, especially if it works (unsupported) on my existing AM3 board. I need to buy some sort of hardware, and there aren't many other components that would benefit from an upgrade (on a PhII 955 now).

SSDs don't actually effect how fast games (and many other applications) run (other than loading times)? SSDs have been expensive and plagued with firmware issues?

I don't know - you can see where I stand with my rig :p

I bought the Intel SSD and the 5870 at the same time and decided against a Sandy Bridge and if I could do it again I wouldn't change my decision.

That said, my wife is running a Kuma core x2 and I am hoping BD this fall will get her a cheap, high performance quad, so with regards to this thread I guess that is a yes vote :)

I have a q6600 @ 3GHz that performs well enough for me. But it runs pretty hot, and it is most annoying at idle because speedstep only takes it down to X6 multiplier (which is sofa king retarded... I should never have bought the chip). So it never really runs in a power saving mode and yet it is on a lot. Big power hog. I am looking for BD to give good idle power consumption. Under 40 watts idle at the wall socket would be great (including juniper class video card). Idle power is unspeakably high right now.

Its doable. This guy supposedly runs a quadcore BD oced to 3.4ghz at 0.925v, look at those temps.

The fact that we're just looking at a screencap with some random temperature reading doesn't convince me that is BD. He could at least put a clip of what's in his rig like a shot of his casing with side panel open showing some physical evidence that he does have BD.

Planning on getting one for a virtualization box, assuming the $/core and core performance are decent.

Is it known whether BD will officially use the exact same AM3/AM2 hsf and mounting mechanism?

Sorry but that looks fake to me, I have used that application on many computers and it has never shown temperatures in unison for each core before. Not on any system I've built, just from my experience.

EDIT : Maybe it is reading just one core for all, but still seems a little fishy.

Yeah if someone goes through the trouble to make a youtube video, the least they could do is get some footage of their motherboard. I want to see their computer and their screen in the same frame too.
