Why do I need a whole audio setup for my computer? My Klipsch setup runs just fine.
 
Well I use my receiver and speakers for my home theater room. It's just impractical for me to have a good quality speaker setup where my computer is. I use a highend headphone setup with my computer when I want good sound quality.

I don't listen to music on my PC, so my 4.1 FPS200 setup works fine for me. Besides, when I'm on the computer, i've got either a TV show playing through my HT setup or music, best of both worlds IMO 🙂

Because some people have limited computer space? And the integrated amp is so much easier...

But yes, I have a receiver and "real" speakers...
 
Yes I run a digital coax to my Onkyo receiver which powers my 5 satellites + sub. I bought Cerwin Vega speakers because I got a very good deal on them.
 
if i knew how to run a theater system out of my comp i'd use real speakers.....


acutally i do like my boston acoustics that I have now so mayb enot
 
I have the cheap logitech 5.1 setup (z640, I think).

Actually, I don't have an audio setup in my room anymore (granted, it was only a cheap, badly setup, 2.0 system). I never used it.

I've thought of getting a proper 5.1+ setup for my room, but I don't watch tv often enough and it'd be a PITA to run the cables (my tv is wall mounted on one side of the room, my electronics are on the other side of the room, next to my bed). Hell, I've had a DVD player since Christmas and I've never hooked it up. The coaxial tap comes straight from the splitter in the attic, and a line of coax was run through the wall so I could hook up my VCR (which I haven't used in years).

edit: the way the cables were run is actually pretty slick, but it really limits the way the furniture in my room can be configured.
 
To me, every PC should be destined to be the hub of a digital theatre. I have a 7.1 setup with 'real' speakers. And yes, I'm a proponent of the "If the cabinent is made of plastic, then it's just a 'puter squeeker'" speaker attitude.
 
I'm in college...don't have $$ for some fancy home theatre system 😛

I have a pair of $60 sennheiser headphones (hd280pro, they're awesome) & a set of Altec Lansings, ~8-9yrs old (came with my father's P2 266mhz). They were expensive as hell back in the day though, Dolby Surround (2.1 speakers).
 
I have a 1970 Sony 7065A with a couple similiar vintage Pioneer bookshelf speakers (recently replaced the 8" subs in them, as the originals were rotted and blown) that I run my computer through. I love it. It is truly wonderful and can be loud as hell when I want it to be.

Really easy.

You can even use your current soundcard, just get an adapter that does 1/8" to dual RCA and hook it up to one of the inputs on the back of a receiver. Then set up as normal.
