Who here runs their computer audio into a receiver with real speakers hooked up?

Right now Im using my Thinkpad with the new Promedia 2.0. If you havent heard the new ones youd be suprised how nice some of these multimedia sets sound nowadays.

I don't have a reciever, but I'm running the digital output from the computer into a Denon DAP-2500A digital preamp, to a pair of Muse 150 monoblocks, and thence to an Infinity IRS Beta speaker system. That's kind of like using a receiver, but more boxes are involved.

I never understood the whole "computer speakers" thing...

Especially if you listen to music on your computer.

Me too, I use a Sony surround receiver with 4 bookshelf speakers (don't have a center hooked up yet), along with a 12" 200W sub under the desk. It blows the Klipsh's away!

I used to have a pair of Klipsch KLF-30's and a Definitive Technology PF1500TL+ connected though my Marantz SR5200 receiver. It was a decent setup and I really liked it. But alas, I was one employer short of financially stable. I had to store my stuff at my parents house while I looked for a real job after college. Now I have a job, but i've got a tiny room that I'm renting and no place for all my stuff. Until I get a decent apartment here in Boston my stuff will remain at my parents house in FL. It makes me sad.

Also it's cheaper...consider that I got my Logitech Z-2200's for under $100 in an ATHD-posted Amazon deal.

I could look up the TB parts numbers and having those alone shipped to me would already cost as much...never mind that I'd still need to buy connectors, build boxes, and hook up an amp to them.
