Who here owns a Macintosh?

I always wanted a Mac when I was a kid, but my dad said they were too expensive and incompatible with most other computers. I never saw the famed '1984' commercial, but my elementary school had a few Mac Classics (1990) and I pretty much still wanted a Mac until the age of the 486/Windows 3.1.

Perhaps in 10 years I'll pick up a used iMac, the one that Steve Jobs intro'd a few days ago. I have an ancient PowerMac 7200 that runs pretty well. I got it for $6 and use it for fooling around with Linux. :D

I kind of dig the new iMac...but it's still pricey. By the way, I have a friend of a friend of a friend who actually owns a Mac!

Not me but I found out that my mother in law got talked into an Ibook.

And to think she never talked to me about it. Just as well because if she had a ID10T problem she would have blamed me so now I'm off the hook. :D

My dad has a G3 B&W tower.

My whole school is macs...

I am fairly familiar with them but I don't think I would buy one myself

haha, I have an oldish ibook and my mom still uses a G3 @ 400. Macs are decent computers, but they really dont have a lot of software. An 800 G4 *really does* "feel" as fast as most current modern PCs, but the newest Athlon/PIVs are faster for calculations and of course games. IMO, the single worst thing about macs is their total lack of game software. If macs could run all PC games, I would never touch a PC again except if my work required it (probably would).

I've got an iMac I use solely to test the rendering of the websites I make. (make sure that they look the same on IE and netscape for Windows and Mac.)

My first computer was a Mac SE. It was really cool for it's time, but I'm glad I got out before I became a cult memb.... errr, lifetime customer.

I got a toaster sitting in the closet..

I want the CRT based Imac's so I can carry it around.. that is so cute.. the new flat panel ones are nice too.. but I got to see it up close and personal before I make my opinion of it.

My first computer to call my own was Performa 630 (I still have it, though it can't do much) I also have a powerbook 1400 which is a solid portable. I wouldn't mind buying another, but the equipment is just too expensive for my poor budget... Maybe when I earn more....

My parents have a Macintosh Classic at home. It's a tiny little box with a built in 8" (if even that) B&W monitor. It even has a 40 MB hard drive! Oh, and this cool thing called a floppy drive. Wicked!

I am a TOTAL macaddict. I never really used a PC at all until I got to the dorms this year. Mac OS 10.1 is such a nice operating system that it doesn't even matter that PCs are cheaper and that you can build your own.

People in my dorm really like my mac (G4 867mhz, 1.1gig RAM, Superdrive). iTools, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iTunes and quicktime are industry leading FREE products.

I can film a movie and have it up on the web for free in 8 minutes on my mac.

As usual, I feel that Apple can only gain market share.

I used to have an iMac (lime green 333mhz), but I gave it to my mom so that she could use the internet. It was a nice machine for its time (and at the time, 3 years ago), I got it for $600 new through my work. It didn't have any hardware video acceleration, and the 15" screen is painfully small.

The Physics department has filled the labs with Macintosh SE's. They have floppy drives and a couple dozen megabytes for hard drive. They run the timing software just fine. The department knows that if they had any more advanced technology, it'd be stolen or students would surf the net all day.

One of my friends has Performa that runs at something like 186MHz. He quickly ditched that for a Pentium III 500. Upon moving to college, he ditched that and got a T-Bird 1.4.

My journalism teacher in high school was a fanatic about Macs. We had to type stories up on ancient beasts until she finally purchased some of the old iMacs and G3 and G4. I have no doubt she'll be picking up one of the new iMacs as soon as possible.

I've never owned a Mac myself. My first computer was a 486-33. I don't really have that much against Macs, I just prefer PC's a whole lot more. :)

Man, that's a nightmare scenario. Imagine if Microsoft didn't exist. We'd be stuck with Apple. And that's not Apple as we know it today, with MacOS X, but Apple that has no competition or need to improve their software. Scary. Then again, everyone would probably just use Linux.
