Not yet, but I've seen various ruins around Western Europe and the Colosseum is definitely surreal. I'll make it to Egypt when things calm down over there.

Yeah, its a shame you can't simply travel around and check things out. An ex girlfriend's brother, who was Canadian, went to Egypt. He was spit on by the locals because they thought he was an American (US). And this was a around 12 years ago. If you try to see the pyramids in Mexico, you could get robbed, women get raped, kidnaped, or just plain killed. Its a shame that most of the great monuments of civilization are in unstable countries.

been to Chichen Itza near Cancun. There was an ambulance on standby in case anyone fell down the steps.

First time I cast eyes on the Pyramid of Memphis my first thought was "civic blunder".

In Arizona, we can't seem to do anything right.

I've been to them, it's a pretty impressive site, despite the fact that thousands of slaves died building them.

No. Sears Tower > Any pyramid ever made.

The pyramids are stacked stones built by slave labor. A child with blocks has the intellect to build the pyramids and only lacks the resources.

ya think the sears towers still gonna be standing in 3000 years?

No, but the United States could build something that would last that long if they cared to. Looking around at modern Egypt, you can understand why they subcontracted the construction of the Pyramids to Jewish slave labor. I wouldn't trust Egyptians to build so much as an outhouse that would last 30 months, much less 30 centuries.

Also, FYI guys -- it is now believed that the Pyramids were not built by slaves, but a working class of people.

truth is we really dont even know how they built them, or what they used them for.

I was looking at a cruise down the Nile, stopping at a few places. But then the government thing happened, and my budget wasn't quite up to snuff either. :(

Would love to go though, would be the trip of a life time.

I've seen the pyramids, and while impressive, the trash flying around was insane. What a dirty place with alot of dirty people (mixed with tourists).

I talked to someone who did that and they loved it. I wish I could do it but the Muslim brotherhood will be locking egyptian borders soon.
