205 RWHP out of a 2.5 NA! That's a wee bit more than "a bit" of work from what I hear. What have you done and what has it cost you? (Considering that my 924S has the same engine....)Originally posted by: Scootin159
Old car was a Pontiac LeMans (rebadged Daewoo Lanos) w/ 76hp. Was actually acceptable (although by no means fast) thanks to it's low curb weight. Was a great car until a truck drove over it.
New car is a Porsche 944, stock is 158HP, but the previous owner did a bit of engine work for me & I now have dyno slips at 205 RWHP. Still by no means blazing fast, but when you figure in it's track ready handling and low curb weight it's not bad at all (I'm now down under 2700lbs with a full leather interior). I plan on doing a few more mods to take advantage of the mods the P.O. did, and should be able to obtain 250RWHP without spending any huge bucks, and 350RWHP if I want to go for the supercharged option.

Actually surprisingly it wasn't sold as this and I only found it out about a month ago. I finally had a chance to go through the paperwork that came with it and at about 50,000 miles it has this one little line: 2.8L package from Anderson Motorworks ---- $3500. From the looks of things it wasn't replaced out of desire but more need. It lists 2 weeks prior to that the purchase of a new engine block from the dealer (for $0 --- warranty?). Best I can figure is he blew the engine due to some fault (why else would warranty cover it?) and then as long as he had it out had Anderson bore it to 2.8L. Anyways considering this is running stock everywhere else I figure if I open it up to a bit more air for the 2.8L (cone filter, SFR exhaust, chips?) and 250rwhp should be possible.

That should definitely improve airflow. Might be less expsnsive than custom work (especially if you can find a car with a blown 4 valve that has a good head) and might hold up better.

110 HP i think.I loved my '88. Shame the bodywork didn't last.
Scootin: OK, I hadn't realised that the 4-valve head was so expensive. Switching to a turbo tranny would probably be a good idea if you went the supercharging route. You'd get higher gearing too, which would help with cruising.

same thing I thought of when I saw the title...I had to read a few posts to figure out it was horsepower.Originally posted by: TallBill
how can a car have hitpoints? its not even living?
Honestly, the standard tranny should be able to handle the power OK based on everything I've heard as long as you're smooth with your shifting.Originally posted by: Scootin159
Yeah, the turbo tranny would be a good idea if I did actually go through with that. Might even be a good idea if I get it up to 250rwhp, but for now I'm just going to maintain it well & focus on rounding out the car.Originally posted by: Zenmervolt
