What's funny is some will spend a multiple on a video card or CPU that is way overkill for their needs or some 'cool' light up RAM and not bat an eye.

I still fail to see the correlation between $$ jeans and getting a girlfriend.

There isn't one, at least not in my world.

getting a girlfriend isn't hard...it's getting one others would want as a girlfriend too.

I usually get my $200 jeans for around $60-100 at Nordstrom Rack. Occassionally I'll pay full retail if I see something that's absolutely perfect, but usually the Rack treats me right and I don't have to.

I don't really wear jeans. But was shocked to learn how many people I know buy jeans for $200, $250, and even over $300. Is this a common thing now, buying high end jeans.

I buy $200 jeans and higher end clothes when they are ON SALE. i've never purchased a high end pair of jeans like diesel for over $70

learn 2 shop. i will never buy anything for retail price. it's stupid. that especially goes for buying cheap crap clothes just because they are cheap. have self control, shop at places like nordstrom rack and TJmaxx and you save $ and keep the quality stuff

I've learned that many ATOTers are embarrassed to shop at discount places or use coupons. Apparently, it's not cool.

Unfortunately what you are buying at $70 is no longer considered 'fashion'.

The idea on a lot of the higher priced clothing is to have it 'NOW' when it's hard to get, not when it's being blown out post season.

jeans are always in style!

I have a feeling what you look for in a girlfriend and what I look for in a girlfriend is completely different. Call it a hunch.

athletic and toned vs. A few extra pounds/curvy

I do, because it's my money and I can do what I want. I also know there is a distinct difference between a good pair of jeans and those that use cheaper denim, stitching, dye, etc. I don't buy expensive jeans because I want other people to notice; rather, I buy based on quality and what fits me the best.

A great pair of jeans can work for casual and non-casual situations. My jeans go just as well with a t-shirt as they do a button-down with a jacket.

Now, I refuse to pay ridiculous prices for jeans that are obviously just trying to fit into some haute couture nonsense. There's a point where you're paying too much premium just so people know you wear expensive jeans, and there's a point where you're getting a lot of value for your dollar.

No, they really dont.

Having said that, I honestly didnt even know they made jeans that cost $200+. Thats a lot of money for a pair of jeans. I'm going to have to go see if I can find a pair like that.

Actually I speaking more of personality, but looks would differ as well I'm sure. The girl I'm seeing now is actually curvy, which is different than what I'm used to, but she's amazing and beautiful (no pics, so don't ask).

Ok, with that edit I think you proved my point.

Now you know. Go to any decent restaurant with an average crowd of professionals and you'll see them. Nice jeans go very well with a jacket, nice shoes, nice shirt, etc.

And this is coming from a guy that knows nothing about fashion and cares even less. I wear flip-flops with my jeans, because it's comfortable and I can. I'm just saying what can be done and what often is done. A great pair of jeans has replaced the niche of fashion where chinos used to so firmly sit.

this.

of course, the people bitching at expensive jeans probably won't go to expensive restaurants either where people would dress like that.
