I would imagine we're talking a small fraction of 1 percent of people.
The arrogancy would be the assumption to know with any confidence (let alone "probably", which implies some higher degree of certainty) a particular attribute of a member of this cohort. The anonymity and disconnectedness prevent any such assertion, aside from perhaps several rudimentary ones (and most with nary an inkling to do with wealth). Probabilistically speaking, one could not extract nearly enough data in a setting such as this to offer any reasonably accurate.

The fact that it is now more likely (in comparison to the recent past) to have such a net worth only reinforces this point. Of course, limiting the cohort to the US would also be a bit of faulty logic.

Good lord, I can't even understand the point you guys trying to make...

Anyways...I read in the Wall Street Journal that there are about 2.4 million households in the US with net worthes over 5 million. If you include a spouse I'd guess that's somewhere around 1 in 75 people. Up it to 10 million and it's probably 1 in 200 but that's just a wild guess. I agree though, given that most people accumulate wealth over the course of their life, the average multi millionaire probably doesn't hang out on ATOT (because they're older!)

If I cashed out all my stocks tomorrow, pre-penalty and pre-tax, I'd probably have $100K. If I died tomorrow, my life insurance would pay more...so I guess I'm worth more dead than alive. :(
