Who has the crappiest FULL-TIME job here ???

Please try not to list your part-time job at the mall, McDs, BK, etc....

But speaking of McDs, I certainly do think I have one of the most thankless job in here as I'm a store manager for a McDonalds.

Lets see here where do I begin? Lets me just tell you some of the stuff I have to deal with.

* I work anywhere from 50-60 per week.
* I get constant visits from my superior and my field consultant making sure that the store is running within McDs guidelines. And I get graded for this.
* Everyday, I have to worry if my managers are going to show up for work. If any of them call out, guess who has to work ?
* Making sure the store are properly staffed. Imagine trying to maintain about 40-50 QUALITY employees for the store.
* Have to make sure I make my LABOR and FOOD COST cost guidelines.
* We get a mystery shopper every month.

Basically the worst part of the job is that I'm always on my toes. I never know if someone is going to come by and check out the store.
If anything is wrong with the store, its my A$$.

It sucks when you don't even have moments of relaxation on your days off.
Thats just the way I feel because I this fear of my store operating like crap when I'm not there.

All this stress over a $34,000 base + bonus(around 4k-5k).
I will get this hugh car allowance once my 1yr tenure is up but can I last that long ???

I would get into another field but the economy is so bad right now that should stick around a while longer.

Why?

Because

I have to take it seriously as IT IS MY STORE.
When I was an assistant, I see some store managers slack around too much and not give a damm which is why alot of them get demoted or force to quit.
Just don't want to be one of those guys.

For some reason, I vision all those high coporate guys making tons of money and they had to start somewhere.

Commercial fisherman/ Mate

On the commercial side - Very dangerous. I can work all day and possibly not make a dime depending on catch and market prices. work days can last up to 75 hours(for me, I know people who go out for months at a time) I smell horrible afterwards and during. I have to drive 2 hours to get to work because virginia took our landing permit away and have to go to NC now. Really tough labor (not just like regular recreational fishing) Deal with fish poisoning (serious infections due to the several punture wounds I deal with everyday without anyway to clean them) seasickness (yes i can happen to anybody if it gets rough enough, If you think I'm a baby then you try to stay on a 33' boat in 40' seas with a wave interval of 20 sec.)

could go on about commercial fishing but I just can't wait to talk about being a mate on a fishing boat. 🙂

you gotta love how everybody who does get seasick on the boat gets embarassed and trys to hide it so at the end of the day you find nice little suprises in the corner and under things. Everybody and his brother knows how to do your job better because they have seen a freashwater fishing show so they must know everything. you work for tips (15% my ass!) you smell. skin cancer(but at least the tan is nice) during the peak of the turist season I have worked 120 hour weeks. lots more punture woulds due to hooks. getting the privalage to untangle peaples fishing lines who become tangeled together(I've seen up to 20). dealing with some of the lowest class of people I have ever seen in my life (although some are really nice)

If somebody can top this I'll just have to think of some of the other details that just suck.

I know I have a crappy job.....what, everyone in where has the best job ???
I don't see anyone else list theirs yet.

I worked at McDonalds as a crew leader. The negatives-

- 70-100 hour weeks.
- No vacation
- You call in, you're fired
- Manager was smoking crack in bathroom, had to run store with other worker
- Idiot managers who had no idea what they were doing. Had to redo floor plan
- Idiot workers who had no idea what they were doing. Had to train 1 person for a month on how to make a hamburger.
- Worked 3 22-hour days in a row
- Worked with strep-throat and stomach virus for 18 hours. Threwup in garbage can every 5 minutes. 1 break
- Worked for about 2 months in grill alone, every day. No break, 12 hour days
- Had to try to communicate with people who could not speak English, yet insisted on going through the drive-thru.
- We had to pay full price for meals
- Unloaded truck every time. Sometimes at 8pm, sometimes noon, sometimes 3am.
- Did stacks twice (good hours there)
- Cleaned up "accidents" in play land.
- Dumpster was full, had to climb in and find a way to compact it down
- Managers fired people on holidays for "fun"

Not many high paid corporate guys making a ton of cash actually worked in stores, just look at all the "stupid" things that come down the corporate ladder and you say to yourself, "WTF!"

Do you know how many lawsuits you have there against McDonald's?

Chaotic42, LOL man, I know exactly what you're talking about.

When I was assistant, my boss, who can speak Spanish hired all these Spanish-speaking only people.
Don't get me wrong, some of those are some of the best workers out there, But I was like WTF ???
How the fvck can I train these guys if they can't speak English ??

The best one on that list has to be people who tries to order in drive-through without knowing English.
Better yet, I had people who went through DT who were deaf......WTF ?????

Being unemployed is the worst full time job evar!

Pay sucks
boring
