Don't the 45gs have no video and the 41Gs have the intergrated video?

just wondering.....

bwahaha, my oldest pc is an HP with a 200 mhz mmx pentium, an s3 virge with 4 whole mb for ram, 32 mb edo ram, spatializer 16-bit sound, and a whopping 3.8 Gig hard drive, i think my dad payed 1700 for that way back when

Ok since this is a thread about crappy pc's let's take a ride in my wayback machine. 🙂

1977

1989

Pretty sad with what you paid in 1989 could buy a system nowadays that's the equivalent of having a 160 gpm fire hose in your pants.

Cheers!

I have a modest system:

Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.3GHz
1 GB RAM
2x36GB WD Raptors (RAID-0)
80GB 7200RPM Maxtor
GeForce4 Ti4600 (temporary)
Audigy2 ZS Platinum
8x dual format DVD burner
52x CD-RW

SilverBack, easily. FX-53 @ 2.7 + X800Pro will kill anything and everything.

two rigs:
1700@2.4
512 pc3500
msi 5700
msi k7n2 delta-L
120b maxtor 8mb

2.5XP-M@2.6
512 ocz pc3200
dfi lanparty
9800np w/arctic silencer
80gb wd 8mb

not bad, the MSI rig is just a file server but its pretty decent too

I think Anand probably has one of the best systems here... quad-Opteron with 8GB of RAM, anyone want to try to top that? 😀

Do I have to own it, or can I use the machines at work? 😉

Uh oh, that's the signal for us to get our bibs on! :Q

Not the biggest system I've had access to:

It wouldn't be exciting for most of the people here. NO video. :Q

12x 900mhz UltraSPARC III
48GB ram (don't know what kind off hand)
2x 36GB SCSI drives. hardware raid 1.
5-6x 36GB SCSI, hardware raid 5
2x 3x 36GB SCSI, raid 5.

Only took about 20 minutes to reboot, which is better than some of the bigger systems out there (sunfire 10k at Sun takes about 2 hours! :Q ). 😉 Not sure about all of the drive sizes, I'm in a different dept. now.

That's a "midrange system" by the way. 😉

Not that exact machine:
pic1 -half rack, very boring, I mostly saw them in full racks
pic2 -front, plenty of cables (actually looks like a 4810)
pic3 -back

Pictures of the 3800, 4800, and 6800 are here. Not sure whose site this is. 😛

I've had access to all 3, but the 4800 was the one I used the most.

The system boards were really neat. Yes, those are RAM slots on the left there. 😉
