Who has one of those food sealer things?

I got some handheld POS a few months ago, I like the idea but it has about a 30% failure rate 🙁

Suggestions? Experiences?

Yeah the handheld ones suck. We've used the low-end FoodSaver brand tabletop ones for years to seal our cleaned fish for freezing after a trip. No complaints.

we have a food saver model....i think it was $150?....we love it.

We use to vacuum seal and freeze chicken and burgers for summer grilling.....along with it we bought a container for marinading meat....put the meat in it along with your marinade attach it to the Food Saver and the vacuum draws the marinade into the pores of the meat...it's awesome because a good marinade only takes a couple of hours rather than overnight.

We had a cheap one for awhile, but upgraded,*hint*. Vacuum is the way to go, *hint*. The bags we use are very heavyduty,*hint*, and if you cut them near the seal you can re-use them again, and again, *hint*. We have saved alot of money buying meats in bulk, or family packs,(Sams club is 50 miles away).

Nice tip on the marinade Wheezer! thanks

when i used to buy weed in bulk it came in food saver bags

always made me LOL

I have one...I don't know the make or model of the top of my head. It works well. Does wonders on saving blocks of cheese and frozen burritos and ground beef. 🙂

The vacuum canisters aren't worth a shit, though. I can't get them to hold a seal. 🙁

bulk, like 10lbs? that is a LOT of weed.

We got a FoodSaver(tm) from costco a few months ago.
It is great so far. Beacuse there are only two of us, we would waste a lot of food. With this, it helps.
We can get a large amount of meat/poultry and seal and store the rest that we do not use in one meal.
The bags are very strong and keep out freezer burn beautifully.
We use it for meat, soup, cookies... almost anything you can think of.
The only (small) downside is that the bags are some what pricy, but I think it is worth it.

Yep, the pricey bags kept me away for a while, but with food costs now, I think I could save some $ over the long haul.

You can always buy the rolls of bag material and make your own bags for a little cheaper...also has the advantage of being able to make bags of any size. Of course, sometimes the seal isn't perfect, so you have to be careful with liquids.

i have the costco foodsave.
i also got the jar saver attachment.
its great!

i save cheeze, open salami, meats, breads, and mushrooms 😉

Does it work pretty damn well for cheese?!?!?!?!

I love cheeze.
but I've learned that the best tip for cheese is to ONLY buy what you can consume in about 10days. or 2 weeks.
(it's a great rule, I wish I could follow it better though...)
even if you use a paper towel method, the ph and temperature seem to always win..
It does work very well for the drier cheese.

I've had little luck at my dabbling with freezing.

I got one of the Costco machines, expensive as hell, $150+ with a box of extra rolls.

I sealed up a bunch of crap, even split up a big bag of nacho chips 🙂

There were all kinds of samples today @ Costco, I even got a free can of energy drink.

Alternator sized hunks of weed is considered bulk.
