I got some handheld POS a few months ago, I like the idea but it has about a 30% failure rate 🙁

we have a food saver model....i think it was $150?....we love it.
We use to vacuum seal and freeze chicken and burgers for summer grilling.....along with it we bought a container for marinading meat....put the meat in it along with your marinade attach it to the Food Saver and the vacuum draws the marinade into the pores of the meat...it's awesome because a good marinade only takes a couple of hours rather than overnight.

It is great so far. Beacuse there are only two of us, we would waste a lot of food. With this, it helps.
We can get a large amount of meat/poultry and seal and store the rest that we do not use in one meal.
The bags are very strong and keep out freezer burn beautifully.
We use it for meat, soup, cookies... almost anything you can think of.
The only (small) downside is that the bags are some what pricy, but I think it is worth it.
You can always buy the rolls of bag material and make your own bags for a little cheaper...also has the advantage of being able to make bags of any size. Of course, sometimes the seal isn't perfect, so you have to be careful with liquids.Originally posted by: Pliablemoose

Yep, the pricey bags kept me away for a while, but with food costs now, I think I could save some $ over the long haul.
