This coming from someone who was consumed by the original HL and all the expansion packs...but that was back in the day when HL "was it." I.E. there really wasn't much other cool stuff out. Except for DeusEX. I lovd that game!

I'm sure HL is very nice...but is it like Doom3? Lots of eye candy but 1/2 way thru you say "Man...this is pretty fcking repetitive!"?

Yes it is. FarCry, like doom, is quite flashy, but somewhat unrealistic, FarCry being the more realistic of the two.

Truely Half-life provides both psycholoical and visual thrills the likes of wish other game producers scream out loud at night about.
 
HL2 is AMAZING!!!! Far Cry is crap in comparison. I wish I didn't havea crap load of HW this week arrr!!!
 
Dammit, I finally got it downloaded from steam, and now it won't work. Hangs on the intro. I've got a pretty standard system, XP 2500+, Radeon 9800, NForce 2 sound. Why is this happening to me?
 
half-life 2 is the best game I have ever played. I wasn't a big fan of doom3, boring and repetitive IMHO...farcry was pretty fun...but hl2 is amazing and spanks the crap outta halo2 which I beat with my brother in like 8 hours....
 
I would be but I've successfully resisted the temptation to play because of midterms. Just gotta get through tomorrow. AHHHHHHHHHH. Must resist.
 
why do people wait until now to start preloading the game? that is just dumb. and yet they will complain about how bad steam is:roll:

You do realize that the number of math errors due to the 16bit space would be ginormous, right? With all the texture passes they're doing at lower quality modes(and I'm not counting shading, which requires 32bit mode), 16bit math would cause a lot of things not to look right due to the math errors from a lack of precision.
