A PC does most of its work electronically rather than mechanically. Sure there are fans, CD-ROMs and hard drives. There's not much more in the mechanical aspects of a PC. It always makes me wonder how the term machine was ever brought up when referring to PCs. I've heard others call them machines, most don't use a computer very often.

Nope, but I never get a whole new machine. I just add small upgades here and there. A video card here, a CPU there, but rarely at the same time. My last upgrade was a ATI Radeon 8500 LE.

This is kinda like the "motor vs engine" debate. :)

I looked up the word machine on dictionary.com. Computer IS mentioned in there. I suppose it's how it's perceived.
