I wonder the lesser powerful sibling 7900xt would be more worth it for me since I have to undervolt and underclock in oder to keep the junct tamps below 100c with my 7900xtx.
I don't think the 7900 XT will be much better. I hit high junction temps on my RX 6800 without undervolting. What you need is really good case airflow. Of course, the undervolting is nothing bad. It's the sane thing to do and it will prolong your card's life.

I installed my 7900 XTX yesterday and I have a odd problem. Keep in mind I changed nothing system wise except the 6900XT->7900XTX, all drivers were updated prior to the change and the system was fine with the 6900XT, also I reinstalled the Radeon drivers after the switch. The card is working fine except HDR is now dimmer than SDR, which before it was brighter (same settings) but more importantly with HDR enabled all text is absolutely horrible. It has this "shimmering" all over it which adjusting cleartype didn't help. Any guesses?

I think the drivers still have a way to go for the RX 7000 cards. But the latest drivers, 23.3.2, seem to fix the crashing issues I was having recently in COD MWII. I will note, that Freesync seems to be having issues in Quake Chamions, so I turned it off. Now the game runs smoother, but I get like 100W idle power usage from the card...

Anyone here playing Last of Us P1? The game has been bombarded with negative review on Steam.
I just d/l the game yesterday and with the latest driver. It runs like a dream. Mostly high 80fps with very high settings and best yet @ very low junction temp (80c) LOL.

Boot into safe mode and use DDU to uninstall the graphics drivers. Reboot and re-install drivers. Hopefully, that will fix it.
That didn't help either. Seems as if the 7900XTX may be a bit more picky about the display port cables than the 6900XT was. I ordered a 2.1 certified cable and that sorted it out.

That's mostly because of performance issues, and mostly because players with 8GB (or less) vRAM are trying to max out settings and wondering why performance is a stuttery mess (8GB vRAM...)

12GB is looking like minimum to not make major compromises in newer titles. 16GB for no compromises. And well, 24GB feels comfy :)

Having owned the7900xtx for a spread of over two months now I have to say these are great high end cards for the value/money in comparison the competitor.
It took a bit to learn how to get around and tweaks the settings for each of game I play but at the end it's all worth it.
I think it's a lot more stable and predictable than my last NVIDIA card (4080) which sometime I just scratched my head.
I game pretty heavily on both MSFS and DCS (both nonVR and VR) and I have to say the 7900xtx is definitely a keeper.

What issues did you have with the 4080? I'm trying to decide between a 7900XTX and a 4080.

16GB should be plenty for a few years I would think?
From a value perspective, it's bad. Costs more than the XTX, which may see a performance improvement with new drivers at some point in the future (fine wine drivers). Only reason to get the 4080 is if all you care about is raytracing or play some game a lot that is known to have issues with Radeons.

Lack of VRAM which causes stutter when you play flight sim games (DCS or MSFS) or some of the newer games like Last of Us.
The 7900 xtx has had no issue with that kind of game whatsover.
In DCS it draws close to 20gb on certain game scenarios.
In MSFS it draws a bit less than DCS.
In VR it draws a bit more than anything else. I've seen over 20gb in some.
IMO Nvidia did a terrible mistake on the 4080 which it should have had 20gb.
I'd been an NVIDIA user for over 15 years until the 4080 (I had a 3090 ti before that).
For all the games I play and if I compare the 4080 vs 7900xtx in terms of value.
I sold my used 3090ti on eBay and bought a new 7900xtx with a hundred bucks extra tucked in my pocket.
The 7900xtx is a no brainer.

It seems like most of my games are locked in at 75fps or lower in the last few drivers including the latest one.
My ultrawide Samsung monitor has 240 refresh rate with free-sync compatible.
Does anyone have a hint?

What is your refresh rate set to in windows and is vsync on in the AMD control panel?

I did some research that Radeon Chill when "on" does cap the frame rate thus saving power.
This is what some of my extensive power hog games like MSFS or DCS are which is fine by me since the hot season is upon us (hint: Texas)
